To my knowledge and according to Gimp's own documentation at Gimp.org.

Chapter 3. First Steps with Wilber

The Gimp Mascot is named and spelled as Wilber,
regardless of the language one uses when viewing the Gimp.org website.

The thumbnail image below,
contains 12 different languages for The Wilber_Construction_Kit
.

Yet further investigation has revealed to me,
that the name and spelling is indeed Wilber.

Screenshot taken of my Windows Program installation files,
located at ie.,
D:\Programs\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\images.
Indicating that this is the correct spelling.

Notice the image named wilber.png.

Also note,
that this represents every other known "legitimate" installation of Gimp.
Regardless of operating system,
language and file configuration.

If it wasn't for my great mistake and assumption that it was "Wilbur" instead of "Wilber" this post wouldn't happen.

This post was a result of the misspelling within this linked post below.

Yes, it's my misspelling of Wilbur. The simpleness of Wilber just seems too simple, so my brain just throws in the "U" instead. I have proceeded to give myself 50 lashes with the wettest noodle to insure maximum punishment.

No wet noodle lashing is necessary or required.

The Gimp Documentation link given in my previous posting confirms this.

If you google the name Wilbur and associate it with Gimp,
you'll be give a correction of Wilber as an alternative search spelling.

Given all available resources,
it is found to be consistently spelled as Wilber and not Welbur.

You're too late. The lashing has already taken place and unfortunately, I have a big mess to clean up before the wife arrives.

I legally adopted Wilber and renamed him Wilbur. Paperwork forthcoming.

Still,
given this information,
I see no need to proceed toward a "wet noodle lashing".
If this has already occurred,
I give you my most regretful embrace,
in hopes that you will recover quickly and become whole again.
