The Avantra drum imagesetters are the standard in the industry, they are built to last and can provide years and years of service. They can be stand alone units where a separate chemical processor is needed but most have a Agfa online processor connected to the Avantra. There are many different Avantra imagesetter models. They all have basically the same spec as far as quality and registration. The difference is output size and speed. Below is a brief description of each.

Agfa Avantra 25: This is a large 4 up drum imagesetter that will output film or polyester plate material. The maximum film size is 18 x 25 inches or 449 x 635 mm. It has built in head and tail punch. The Avantra 25 outputs film or polyester plate material at 1200, 1800, 2400 or 3600 dots per inch and can handle up to a 200 line screen. A Harlequin RIP is the preferred RIP, there is also a less expensive RIP called an Eagle. Both RIP's run on a Windows new PC platform. Many of the Avantra 25 imagesetters are running polyester plate material instead of film. The polyester plate material comes in a roll just like film. Poly plate gives the Avantra new life as an excellent CTP (computer to plate) device. There is also a Avantra 25S which is 20 percent faster and a Avantra 25 XT which is 40 percent faster.

Avantra 30 is a 4 up drum imagesetter that will output film or polyester plate material. The maximum film size is 30 x 25 inches or 754 x 635 mm. It has a built in head and tail punch. The Avantra 30 outputs film or polyester plate material at 1200, 1800, 2400 or 3600 dots per inch and can handle up to a 425 line screen. A Harlequin RIP is the preferred RIP, there is also a less expensive RIP called an Eagle. Both RIP's run on a Windows new PC platform. Many of the Avantra 30 imagesetters are running polyester plate material instead of film. The polyester plate material comes in a roll just like film. Avantra 44 This is a 8 up drum imagesetter that will output film or polyester plate material. The maximum film size is 36 x 44.5 inches or 906 x 1130 mm. It has a built in head and tail punch. The Avantra 44 outputs film or polyester plate material at 1200, 1800, 2400 or 3600 dots per inch and can handle up to a 425 line screen. A Harlequin RIP is the preferred RIP, there is also a less expensive RIP called an Eagle. Both RIP's run on a Windows new PC platform.
