In case anyone is looking to adorn their street terrain or perhaps even their Post Apocalyptic underground bunkers with a little bit of propaganda art.

A few more.

Apparently, these are the key Polish phrases to use when doing an image search for those posters:

Polskie plakaty propagandy komunistycznej
or
Komunistyczne plakaty propagandowe

AFAIK the majority of Poles really had/have no "love" for Russia … But like many in the WP had no real choice in the matter, I'd suspect. But to be one of the USSR's "buffer zones" from NATO/The West, etc. And supply forces to the WP like pretty much everyone else did in that region, in that situation. IIRC, the Poles were more than glad to join NATO as soon as they could once the USSR became Russia … again …

And as we see today Putin really is upset with the US and UK, etc., having troops training with the Poles right across one of his borders.

No we Poles didn't have any love at all for Soviet Union (not Russians, bear in mind!) which we treated as aggressive, demoralizing, brutal, primitive, totalitarian occupants. Slavemasters, essentialy.

Since Stalin killed of all Polish communists in 1937, the Polish true believers communists were promile of the population.

The key Polish phrases to use when doing an image search for those posters:

PRL plakaty

PRL = Polish People's Republic (neither polish, nor people nor republic…)

picture

widespread control – source of social trust
(sic!)

Umpapa: "PRL = Polish People's Republic (neither polish, nor people nor republic…)"

So it was really SRL, meaning Soviet with a few Poles kept around, for when it was time to take pictures?

And yet they called the West the imperialists.

Dan
PS. I assume that this is a modern parody poster, right? If so, I love their humor.

Gotta disagree… Communists or Czarists, it doesn' matter the Poles have very little use for Russians.

Well, it sounds as if those who actually lived under that system feel the total opposite to what our US media keeps trying to feed us.

Most of our media here were wanting us all to disarm, open our arms and kumbaya with the Soviets back then but, now that the Russians have rejected Marxism and embraced Capitalism, the tables have turned and we suddenly need to see the Russians as the greatest evil and threat to us all.

It's one of those "things that make you go hmm".

Dan
PS. Was this next piece a poster or some sort of magazine cover?

As we see more and more, that is no surprise … on a plethora of subjects …

Lenin had a name for the disposable sympathizers. :)

During 1947-1956, exactly. During 1947-1956 Russians were worried that there is not enough token Poles in PRL goverment. If Your government is proceeding in Russian (since some of ministers, incl. Minister of Defence do not speak Polish) you may have some suspicion, do You.

F.ex.:

After 1956 and later PRL was gradually polonized, but still it was treated by most Poles as malicious metastasis of alien origin.

Gotta disagree… Communists or Czarists, it doesn' matter the Poles have very little use for Russians.

Nah, we Poles like Russians, as persons, humans, relatives, neighbours. I have some Russian friends. I like Russian culture, even if my Russian is a bit rusty these days. In my life I've read say hundreds? thousands? Russian books. Most Poles think Russian language is beautiful.

We Poles greatly respect brave people from the "Memorial".

We have some cultural (strong individualism "for your freedom and mine" vs Byzantian collectivism "the good of the many outweigh the good of the one") and historical differences, but its workable.

Surely, we Poles would much prefer Russia, if it was heir of Novogrod Republic, not Ivan I of Moscow "Kalita", taxcollector for Mongols.

But You kave to adapt, as Seven of Nine would said. Get over all those history and keep living.

Unfortunately it's that Russian government have chosen to dislike us, as main visible enemy. Does Putin really has to choose National Unity Day to commemorate 1612 expulsion of private Polish forces from Moscow? link Not the Battle of Kulikovo, Poltava, Borodino, Stalingrad? Poles, not Mongols, not Napoleon, not Nazi Germany? Really?

Recent activities of NeoSoviest gang exploiting Russia is not helping.

We like Russians. We respect but distrust Russia.
