Young turtles can be housed in a rather large aquarium, with a large dry area. This must be equipped with a heat exchanger and an ultraviolet light source, it should remain on for 5 to 7 hours and is very important for the balance of digestion and for body self-regulation. It must be positioned at a suitable distance to create 30/32 ° C on the area radiated by it. The environment must be damp enough around 50-70%, and being animals that fall apart a lot, they need an efficient external filter to avoid the presence of many nitrites and nitrates. When their size starts to exceed 10 cm of carapace, they should be put outdoors all year round, in a special pond with a lot of sand and at least 2m deep for lethargy. If it is not possible to accommodate adult outdoor turtles, it is advisable to keep them all year round in a watercraft of at least 100x50x50 for each.

Fishes’s coexistence:

It prefers shallow streams, with soft backdrop, little current, abundant sunshine and rich vegetation. Their favorite habitat are lakes, ponds and rivers by the slow and muddy waterway with plenty of aquatic plants. Unfortunately, coexistence with small fish can be a risk, it is not a certainty, but it could give them up.

Sexual dimorphism and breeding:

The female has tail and short nails and round carapace and is larger in size. The tail of the male is longer, robust, large an8ac4048f6fa076a7fde91529e9d55a6cd broad at the base, very developed nails especially at the extremities of the front and flattened carapace. The coupling takes place in water, during which the male performs a singular dance by rubbing the front nails against the female’s muzzle. The female will be ready for deposition after about 30 days, and will look for a sandy and damp place where to lay the eggs. The eggs hatch after 70-120 days, depending on the incubation temperature which must be between 26 and 32 degrees Celsius.

Feeding and mantenance:

The Turtle Turtle is Onnivora. As a kid, she has a predominantly insectivorous diet, based on fish and shrimp, but becomes almost vegetarian as an adult. However, it may eat fish, insects, molluscs, worms, small mammals, reptiles, amphibians, arogens, stools, algae, aquatic plants, and all appropriate dry fodder.
