  Description: Climbing shrubs; stem stout, 4-angular, the angles distinctly winged. Leaves alternate, 8-20 x 8-16 cm, broadly ovate, abruptly acuminate, rounded, subtruncate, shallow cordate, margin entire; petiole 2-5 cm long, stout, 6 angular, glands jugate; stipules ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 2-4 x 1-2 cm, acute, narrowed at base, membranous. Peduncles 1.5-3.5 cm long, tri-angled; bracts cordate-ovate 3-5.5 x 1.5-4 cm, membranous. Flowers ± 10 cm in diameter. Calyx tube campanulate, lobess ovate 3-4 x 1.5-2.5 cm, concave, colour variable. Petals oblong-ovate or oblong-lanceolate, 3-4.5 x 1-2 cm, obtuse, white with deeply pink or purple tinged. Coronal processes 5-seriate, 2 outer series subequal filamentous, 3rd series tubercular, and 4th filamentous, innermost series membranous. Operculum membranous 4-6 mm long, inclined inward; limen annular, fleshy; gynophore with 2 annular processes below. Ovary ovoid. Fruit oblong, 20-35 x 12-15 cm; seeds obcordate 7-10 mm. long, 5-9 mm broad, centrally reticulate, margin striate.
