My Funny Valentine

MY FUNNY VALENTINE

It’s nearly that time of the year Where chocolates fly off the shelves and the local florist feels like Santa at Christmas time. Valentines day is fast approaching and we thought we’d share some of our knowledge about one of our favourite songs during this season to be romantic.

The show tune ‘My Funny Valentine’, which has been recorded by Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra and Miles Davis, was originally taken from the musical ‘Babes In Arms’ by Richard Rogers and Lorenz Hart.

In the original musical, the song is performed by the character Billie Smith who jokingly pokes fun at her suitor (‘Valentine’) but ultimately affirms him that he makes her smile and she wouldn’t want to change a thing about him.

What’s a better message than that on Valentines day?

You can find ‘My Funny Valentine’, the compilation, on the Nostalgia Music Catalogue featuring Chet Baker, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and many other popular jazz greats.
