London.: William Curtis.. No date. Ca. 1817-1828.. Hand colored engraving, plate area approximately 16 3/4 x 10 1/4 inches on sheet size 18 1/2 x 11 1/4 inches. Two soft impressions from paper clip to upper edge (outside plate area), light crease at centre of left edge, couple of tiny edge tears; very good, clean condition. Artistically designed image of a pond lily or water lily, complete with botanical details, from the second edition of William Curtis's magnum opus "Flora Londinensis" (de Belder #87, Dunthorne #87), enlarged by George Graves and William Jackson Hooker. The wove paper in this edition is whiter than the laid paper in the 18th century edition. This sheet is watermarked 1820. .
