Fernando Torres: Top Reasons Why He Should Leave Liverpool

Fernando Torres has been lighting up the Premier League since his summer arrival from Atletico Madrid in 2007 for a club record £26.5 Million.

Since Torres's arrival he has scored  65 goals in 101 appearances.  To put that statistic in perspective, Since Torres has arrived to the premier league, in 103 appearances Wayne Rooney has scored 53 goals, and in 97 appearances and Didier Drogba has scored 51.

On his day Torres is virtually unplayable, he is considered to be a world-class striker. He is quick, strong, impressive in the air, blessed with expert technique and is cool and collected in front of goal.

Recently stories are circulating the rumor mills that Chelsea is willing to pay £50 Million to acquire the services of Torres, here is why Liverpool, and Torres should part.

By no means is Torres old, but at 26, coming up on 27 in March, Torres has very little to his name trophy wise with the exception of a World Cup winners trophy which he in reality played little part in winning.

On his fourth season with Liverpool and with no significant trophies, Torres should look elsewhere to win the elusive Premier League Title and a Champions League Medal to be considered among the greats.

No offense to Kuyt, Aurelio, Konchesky, Jovanovic, Lucas, Poulsen, but these aren't the types of players who can seriously provide for Torres, nor in my opinion are they good enough for a team like Liverpool.

If Torres wasn't as skilled as he is, he would be seriously lacking delivery and support from most squad players on Liverpool.  Torres single-handedly wins games for Liverpool, and its only a matter of time before he exhausts himself at the prime of his career, or moves on to a team with quality in every position to help shoulder the scoring burden for Torres.

Torres has already wasted valuable playing time against Steaua Bucharest, Napoli and Utrecht.  Not exactly the type of competition Torres was anticipating when he left Atletico, which ironically have been performing better in the Europa League than Liverpool.  Torres is a quality player and if he stays at Liverpool, it is likely that he will be playing against these low teams again next year.

Torres has stated that he wants Liverpool to consider and look at Chelsea's bid.  Its only a matter of time before the KOP faithful turn on Torres which could impact Liverpool's Premier League Table climb, as well as Torres' effort levels which will adversely affect the team chemistry and morale.

Recent reports have suggested that Liverpool want Nicolas Anelka included in the £50 million transfer.  With a proven goalscorer like Anelka, and £50M to spend on voids not yet properly filled by the departure of Xabi Alonso and Javier Mascherano, Liverpool could finally begin a proper rebuilding process.

Chelsea have been chasing Torres since 2005 when he was employed by Atletico Madrid.  Roman Abramovich (Chelsea's owner) is going all out to land Torres and is willing to pay an over inflated price.  It is likely that if Torres doesn't leave now, an offer this good might not come around again.

Three years younger than Torres, a proven goalscorer at the international and club level, Suarez could be the start of the new Liverpool revolution.  Fans will surely miss Torres, but with Suarez and the money generated from the sale of Torres, Liverpool will get on just fine.
