In the Well: Bronia Jenkins

ACBL ED Bronia Jenkins

Bronia Jenkins is the current Executive Director of the ACBL.  A bridge champion, she currently holds the ACBL rank of Sapphire Life Master. At age 21, Bronia won the silver medal for Canada at the World Junior Championships. She has won three North American Bridge Championships, and she captained the USA2 women's team at the 2017 World Bridge Championships.  Today, she enters the Well to answer your questions.

Bronia was born in France, but grew up in Montreal and San Diego. She started playing bridge as a teenager in North Canton, OH while doing an engineering internship at The Timken Company. After earning a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Bronia applied her math skills throughout her career.  She was the global head of FX Options at Bank of America and UBS, and co-founded Volbroker.com, the first electronic interdealer broker for foreign exchange options.  After taking a sabbatical from the business world to raise her children, she taught high-school math in Vero Beach, Florida, and coached girls' sports such as volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse (three sports she's never played herself). In 2019, Bronia founded Mathlab.live, a free online resource for high schoolers to strengthen their math skills and prepare for the SAT.

Bronia likes to spend time with her adult kids, Maya and Maximus (and more importantly, they like to spend time with her!).  She is a self-proclaimed lover of all games.  In addition to bridge, she is an enthusiast of the card game French Tarot and the tabletop game Catan.  For physical games, she's an avid tennis player, although she has become a recent convert to pickleball.  Her favorite band is Oingo Boingo and her favorite musical is Hamilton.
