Cracked MacBook Pro bottom display where wires have pulled through the housing (photos)

I use my MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2020, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports) on my desk at home. It hasn't been dropped, moved, or stressed. Just open, work, close (repeat) in the same location.

Last night, when I was closing the top, it wouldn't go the last bit of the way (and I didn't force it). When I opened it to see if something was in the way, I found that what appears to be one of the flex cables has pulled through the bottom of the screen (cracking it) and is wrapped over a white wire that is protruding from the housing of the keyboard half of the laptop. Whatever that white wire is (which had not been visible previously), it looks like the additional stress of the flex cable having to go over that is what pulled the flex cable through the bottom of the display, cracking it. I never heard any crunch or felt any damage happen.

Any sense of what is going on, and is this a known issue? This is a work computer for the federal government, so I need to report it to our IT and procurement folks. Many thanks for any info you can provide.

That white wire appears to be what actually caused the break in the Bezel. That white wire is not part of the laptop, but appears to have gotten caught in between the Display and the Top Case Assembly (base assembly with the Keyboard). Just the size of that wire is clear it is not part of the laptop since the laptop only uses thin plastic flex cables in the Display Assembly.

Looks broke... report it. My sense is there is fault in the manufacturing.
