Julia Stiles has joined Riviera, an upcoming 10-part thriller series coming to the U.K.’s Sky Atlantic in 2017.

Stiles plays Georgiana, a woman recently married to Constantine Clios, a billionaire killed in a yacht explosion in the South of France. Upon his death, Georgiana discovers their lavish lifestyle was made possibly by criminal behavior, including murder. Riviera will center on Georgiana as she descends into a life of crime to keep the Clios family and mansion together.

“What attracted me to Riviera is the setting, a romantic and glamorous world where not everything is as it seems, and the opportunity to explore a character who is also not as she appears,” Stiles said of her new role. “Georgina is the classic anti-hero, ultimately a good person, but compromised by the corruption around her.”

Created by Neil Jordan, an Oscar-winning writer, and John Banville, a Booker Prize-winning author, Riviera is based on an idea from former U2 manager Paul McGuinness.

Sky Atlantic is a channel owned and operated by Sky, the British pay-TV broadcaster. Sky has more than 12 million subscribers, as of 2015.
