Game of Thrones sets the Bellagio fountains on fire with this special display

Game of Thrones is all about ice and fire, but now water’s been added to the mix. The iconic HBO series and the equally-iconic Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas have come together for a special display promoting the final season of GoT. The nearly four-minute display combines coordinated fountain action with music and video projections from the series.

The display starts quietly, with the soft, somber musical cue “Winter Is Here,” and projections that look like falling snow. But then things take off, so to speak, as the main title music erupts and the show’s logo appears, followed by the familiar silhouettes of flying dragons and the Night King. The fountains form shapes resembling a crown, the Iron Throne, and even the Wall, culminating in a pyrotechnic display on the water in sync with the fiery breath of a projected dragon. The show also includes a projection of the jaw-dropping final scene in season 7 when (spoiler alert for uninitiated) the undead Viserion, with the Night King astride him, breathes blue fire to break through the Wall.

The Bellagio display was the brainchild of company WET Design, in collaboration with Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi. “The Bellagio fountain is iconic. It’s known around the world, and so is Game of Thrones,” Djawadi told the Associated Press. “So, I think putting them together and seeing the music choreographed to a fountain like that is quite the spectacle.”

The fountain display will run every night until April 13, the day before Game of Throne‘s final season premiere. Check out a video of the full show above and photos below.
