ANNA BESSONOVA AT LG WHISEN RHYTHMIC ALL STARS, IN 2011

Anna Bessonova is an ukrainian rhythmic gymnast, she was born the 29th of July, in 1984. She is very known nowadays, because of her successes in rhythmic gymnastics.

Her father is Vladimir Bessonow, who was a famous football player (the “Dinamo Kiev”) and a coach at present. Her mother is Viktoria Serikh, who was a former two-time World champion group rhythmic gymnast. Her brother was a tennis player and now he is her personal manager.

Anna started training when she was 5 years old. Her mother wanted her to do ballet instead, but she settle on rhythmic gymnastics. Then, she was taught by Albina and Irina Deriugina, at the Deriugins School in Kiev.

In 2003, Bessonova became the leader of the Ukrainian National Team, becoming, that same year twice World Champion, winnin the Hoop Event Final (using music from ballet Swan Lake) and the Clubs Final. The routine that Anna used in the Hoop Final was rated as one of the best that had been made.

In addition, in that same year, Bessonova became triple European Champion, in hoop, clubs and ribbon event finals. In 2005 she became 6-times silver medalist at the World Rhytmic Gymnastics Championships,in all-around, rope, ball, clubs and ribbon Finals.

In 2007, Anna became world champion at the World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship in Patras, in all-around.In 2008, Bessonova also won all-around golds at the LA Lights, Deriugina Cup. At the Olympics, she won the bronze individual all-around in Beijing (2008) and Athens (2004).

In 2009, Bessonova became champion at the Kiev World Cup in all-around. In 2010, she retired from the gymnastics’ world and officially ended her proffesional carrier at Deriugina Cup Gran Prix. 

Nowadays, Anna directs classes around the world, takes part in gala shows and international perfomances and trains young gymnasts in Ukraine.
