Shane Byrne ended his own play-off heartache last season having joined Harriers in the summer of 2022.

Tasting success at Brackley in the Promotion Final was bittersweet for Byrne, as a former Poppies player. He’s now featured in the play-offs in five successive seasons – including three successive finals. Painful defeats while at St James Park – and indeed with Boston - were finally eased when he lifted the trophy in May, after another packed season that included 48 starts and three important goals.

A cultured midfielder, Shane has also featured for Nuneaton, Bury and Corby during his career.
