In dog competitions, owners generally flaunt their canine's skill set, impeccable furry features, or their ability to pull off a really great costume.

But not when it comes to the "World's Ugliest Dog" championship.

Meet Himisaboo: half-dachshund, half- "we think either Chinese Crested or Mexican Hairless Xoloitzcuintli" pup from Payette, who has just recently been discovered as the Idaho dog with "Donald Trump" hair.

This isn't his first rodeo...erm, ugly dog competition.

The dog owner, Heather Wilson, says Himisaboo usually sports a mohawk to these events, until another reporter claimed Himisaboo's hairdo was strikingly similar to the GOP front runner, Donald Trump.

This happened before Trump began his presidential campaign. She says it's really all fun and games, regardless of the politics.

"We figured whether people loathe the Donald or love the Donald, a vote for Himisaboo is a vote for a dog that looks like Donald Trump," Wilson told KBOI 2News.

Himisaboo is running along with his sister, Rooby Roux. Both dogs, Wilson says, are nothing but adorable in her eyes.

Rooby was the original contestant in the past until Himisaboo's natural locks started getting more attention. Now, they compete together.

Why ugly dog competitions?

Wilson says they're a fun way to get dogs adopted, meet new people and see all kinds of canine competitors.

The competition is Friday in Petaluma, Calif., and so far, Himisaboo is in second place. You can still choose the World's Ugliest Dog by voting here.
