I walked into this restaurant today, I ordered many items, to make a story short $53 worth of bakery items plus the lunch special. One young lady took my order and everything was fine as she began to pack it another young lady who was helping and handling money, etc. like a manager, short with blonde highlights seem to assist her, but she was putting my lunch special food in a box to go, so I stated with haste to her I didn't want that to go- because I didn't want her to do all that work, putting it in a to go container, and I really wanted to sit down and eat my food with my son - but I wasn't nasty about it. I just didn't want her to waste her time, she also began to take out the bakery items that I purchased to put them on their plate to dine in, which I never told the original worker who was helping me that I wanted all the bakery items to sit down and eat. I only told her the lunch special They were confused, but she didn't try to clarify what I would like as the customer considering I already paid for everything she just got an attitude Right away, she got loud and visibly had an attitude and said to me" well then you shouldn't have said you wanted everything to stay "?? but I never told them I wanted my bakery items to stay. I just wanted to sit down and eat the lunch.
There was obviously a misunderstanding between what the other girl told her, and what I told the girl --When I proceeded to try to tell her I what i would like, she waved her hand toward me, and said no no I'm not talking to you I'm not gonna talk to you. HUH?? I asked her why she was the one with the attitude when I was a new customer walking in for the first time having her yell at me!!?
I wanted to let her know that I spoke to the other worker and told her I wanted to sit down for the lunch special, but she didn't even hear me out and then, as I asked different workers who the manager was or who her name was nobody wanted to give me a Name. I was so embarrassed and disappointed in the same moment. And then can you imagine spending all that money having your child with you having other people in the store knowing that you don't want to make a scene but then also knowing that you just gave an establishment your money and they didn't even want to clarify or allow you to explain what you needed.
I have never been in that restaurant before I was so excited when I walked in everything looks so beautiful. I saw other people sitting down with their plates and eating. I was with My son and I figured it would be nice for us to sit down and enjoy the restaurant AND if they had a difficulty speaking or understanding , then get somebody who knows to speak English so that they could communicate with me properly but she did a horrible job mediating the situation and she didn't even acknowledge that I was a paying customer that I paid almost a $100 in their establishment, and I should not have been treated as such. Truly if I had not ordered the lunch special which was cooked food and I was waiting for it and me and My son were very hungry. I would've returned every item and got a refund, but it was all mixed together.
That young ladys behavior in that professional establishment, which was beautiful, was horrible!! When I walked out, I cleaned up my space and I told the rest of the ladies the food was amazing and it was and it's sad that now I don't even wanna go back with or without My son to purchase anything else to bless them with my hard earned money just because of that one individual. She needs to be FIRED! She has no professional decorum what so ever!! And once home and began to eat my cookies etc they all taste like shit, they were dry and brittle- this place needs not be in business.
That day I walked in happy and excited at the beauty of the interior, and hopes for the items and I walked out, disappointed, pissed, and upset, the only thing that was amazing there was the lunch special. Shout out to the lunch special chef they need their own restaurant. Their food is shadowed by the nasty worker and the nasty cookies.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Rob D.Queens, New York, NY0157Jan 28, 2024
I used to go daily for the coffee - I'd sit for a few minutes and go about my business.
I did this every day on my way to work for about two months.
One day I had some extra time and opened my laptop. Apparently this is a no no.
The waitress came over and explained that since my coffee was almost finished I needed to buy something else and poi Ted to a sign that said there was a 30 minute time limit at tables.
I should point out that I was the only person in the place - they definitely didn't need the table.
And I don't need their coffee.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Trina P.Queens, NY25820Aug 10, 2023
I always walk past this bakery on my way to the Steinway street station and notice the beautiful cakes. On a Friday evening, I finally decided to see if the cakes tasted as good as they looked. I ordered a slice of passion fruit cake which cost a whopping $7. (It was also not a large slice.) I resigned myself to paying 7 bucks for a slice of cake because hey, it's New York City and stuff is expensive.
It was a sponge cake sandwiched with layers of passion fruit whipped cream. I was disappointed because the cake was dry and the whipped cream only tasted faintly of passion fruit. I had expected a stronger, more complex flavor. While the other cake flavors could be tasty, I don't think it's worth the splurge.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Diana C.Lindenhurst, NY1612Aug 16, 2023

I was walking through Steinway Street with a friend that was looking for a dessert, this place calls our attention.
I was not in the mood for any sweets at that time, but looking at the different sweets changed my mind.
I order the piece of cake the Tres Chocolate; White Chocolate, Milk and dark chocolate mousse with chocolate sponge cake. The piece of cake was pretty big for $7.25, and the taste was very tasty and delicious highly recommend it, next time I am around will for sure explore more the menu and the different pastry.
The staff was very hospitable, answer our questions with a smile on their face.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 0 - Adriana T.Jackson Heights, NY02914Jul 29, 2023
Zero stars will be the most appropriate rating for this place -
No wonder the service is awful- the decor caught our eye just to realised when we were inside that they also have one in Jackson Heights were we had similar experience.
Music is loud and the service is awful - there are plenty of bakeries in the area, Italian bakery- Greek bakery - Mexican bakery ... give them a try -Helpful 2Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 0 - Orli M.New York, NY1063814Nov 24, 2022
If I could give this place a 0, it'd be most appropriate- for both food & service.
Bad bad taste & poor quality of products.
I kindly asked to re-make my coffee with another type of milk & they refused.
Never coming back.Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1413102260Dec 11, 2021
Welcome to Steinway Street!
This is a cute little Colombian bakery on Steinway street that I just can't get enough of every time I get off the train from work!
I came here last night for dessert and noticed they had strawberry cheesecake; my favorite. And honestly out of all the bakeries in Astoria that sell it, this one is in my top 3.
The cheesecake was smooth and not chunky. Super fresh!
Last week I had the flan and it was also amazing; creamy and sweet and for thanksgiving, I had gotten a tiramisu cake and everyone loved it and asked me where I got it from.
Definitely worth a visit when you're on Steinway Street!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 21, 2023
great local bakery! I am obsessed with their buñuelos, I get one every time I come in. The coffee is good, the bread is good, and the slice of chocolate cake I tried once was also pretty solid. Nice place to stop by! There's a couple of tables and high counters with stools.
