Tadao Ando was my first architecture teacher when I was an architecture tyro. His project Church of the Light impressed me a lot. He was the first person to make me recognize how beautiful can the light be in a building. Narrowly, I just thought the amazing point of this church was the various forms of the light and shadows.
But it’s not that simple to make to make people feel the god only by light. Meanwhile, the light and shadows appear at different places, the color of the environment changes every second.
Reinforced concrete make the light looks like a smooth waterfall. Indoor elevation difference from height to bottom means equality of man and god. The form of the church is simple but it has many excellent architecture thoughts.
I love this church. It makes me realize you can hardly find boundary to define the light. It includes reflection, refraction, color, temperature, texture and so on. When you change one aspect people can get different feelings.
