Amazon has dropped three new posters for Fallout, Prime Video's upcoming series adaptation of the Bethesda video game franchise, showing the characters cracking open a Nuka-Cola.

The official X/Twitter account for the Fallout series dropped a new batch of posters promoting the show and invited people to visit its "settlement" at SXSW this week. The retro-style artwork shows Ella Purnell's Lucy, Aaron Moten's Maximus, and Walton Goggins' Ghoul character enjoying a few bottles of cold Nuka-Cola.

Nuka-Cola is a consumable in the Fallout games, and their bottle caps are also famously used as currency, along with Sunset Sarsaparilla. Invented in 2044 by John-Caleb Bradberton, the unique taste of Nuka-Cola took the market by storm and quickly became one of the most popular drinks of the post-apocalyptic world.

Each character poster features bottles and bottle caps belonging to Nuka-Cola, with taglines related to swilling the beverage. The images have proven divisive among Fallout fans, as some on social media voiced concerns about the series potentially relying too heavily on the Nuka-Cola brand to the point of "obsession."

Others, however, argued that Nuka-Cola has brewed up a deep history and become synonymous with the Fallout video games, so it makes sense that it would be part of the TV adaptation. These fans labelled the beverage "iconic" and "a core part" of the Fallout identity, with one person even calling for tie-in merchandise.

The people of Reddit were less troubled about the characters' beverage of choice and more interested in the thirsty work behind it, as one person pointed out that the package next to Lucy's feet looks like "a wrapped up bloody head," with a second commentator agreeing, saying it was their "first thought" when looking at the poster.

Another person speculated about whose head might be inside the sack, placing their bets on Wilzig, portrayed by Lost alum Michael Emerson. "I got it," they declared. "They're gonna rip off the scientist's and Michael Emerson/Ben Linus's head off. There's some tech or literally something in his head somebody wants."

According to the logline for the series, it will take place "200 years after the apocalypse" when "the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind — and are shocked to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe."

Purnell, Moten, and Goggins (along with Kyle MacLachlan, who plays Hank in the series, the father of Lucy and overseer of Vault 33) joined us at IGN Fan Fest 2024 to talk about how Fallout is staying authentic to the games and more details about what fans can expect when the series premieres on Prime Video on April 12.
