Artist Statement
I am interested in photography as my raw material. It is how I paint and draw. Line, shape and color, are what move me. I look to Mark Rothko, Piet Mondrian, Lazlo Moholy-Nagy, Arthur Siegel, the Bauhaus and the Institute of Design, for inspiration.
I combine photographs, I de-compose, I adjust and I experiment. I push boundaries. I do not believe that the photograph should be limited to a 2-D element. It has the ability to be on anything.
With Photography on Fashion, I am moving away from ‘static art’ which already has its home in Galleries, and creating marketable wearable art. This is not a new concept. Both the Bauhaus School the Futurist Movement looked to methods of producing sellable art creating items from wallpaper to Futurist “antineutral” clothing.
It is time for a revival.
