Prevention

Avoid cultivation of alternate host crops like okra, brinjal etc.
Adopting crop rotation with non-preferred hosts such as sorghum, ragi, maize etc.
Removal and destruction of alternate weed hosts viz., Abutilon indicum, Chrozophore rottlari, Solanum nigrum and Hibiscus ficulensus from the fields and neighboring areas and maintaining field sanitation.
Timely sowing i.e. first week of June up to fourth week of June.
Late sowing may be avoided and the crop growth should not be extended beyond its normal duration.
Collection and removal of whitefly infested leaves.

Monitoring

More than 10 white fly observed on the middle portion of the plant on >50% of plants (two out of four plants).
Monitor blackening of leaves due to sooty mold development caused by honeydew secretions by white fly adults and immatures.
Blackening of leaves indicates higher level of infestation.
Flight of adult producing the sooty appearance when the plant is shaken.
Monitoring the activities of the adult white flies by setting up yellow sticky trap @ 5 /acre at a height of 1 ft above the plant canopy.

Direct Control

Application of any one of the following sprays:
Neem seed kernel extract 5% (50 ml/L of water) and neem oil @ 3% 30 ml/L of water).
Fish oil rosin soap 25 g/L of water.
5% Notchi leaves extract 5% Catharanthus rosea extract

Restrictions

Use of personal protective equipment (PPEs) such as Hand gloves, mask, goggles and keeping antidotes are mandatory by the spray applicators. Care should be taken to avoid the repeated spraying of the same chemicals more than two times.
