Looking at the performance, RX 470 is up to 23% faster in 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme and 25% faster in Hitman when compared to the previous generaion R9 380. This boost in performance doesn't mean more power needed, in fact it has considerably less power draw and only requires a 6-pin power connector. There's no increase in size either, it's still uses DirectCU II with patented wing-blade fans and ASUS FanConnect for up to 30%-cooler and 3X-quieter performance, and still the same premium quality and reliability from Auto-Extreme technology and Super Alloy Power II components. What's not the same is the exciting addition of Aura RGB lighting with millions of colors and six effects, and customizable color decals to match your system.

If we compare some specs with the bigger sibling, ROG Strix RX 470 is not far behind, clocked at 1270MHz in OC mode (1330MHz for RX 480) and 1206MHz in Gaming mode (1310MHz for RX 480). While the RX 480 comes with 8GB of GDDR5 video memory operating at 8GHz on the 256-bit memory bus, this comes with 4GB of GDDR5 operating at 6.6GHz on the 256-bit memory bus.

ROG Strix RX 470 (left) comes a DisplayPort 1.4, an HDMI 2.0 and two DVI-D ports, if you require more, RX 480 (right) offers two HDMI, two DisplayPort and a DVI port. This dual-slot card measures 24.2cm (9.5") compared to 29.8cm (11.7") on the RX 480.
