Homeowner Growing Tips: Grow in full sun, in well-drained, fertile soil. Amend with compost before planting. Foliage will dry and turn brown after blooming, as these go dormant during the heat of summer; new leaves will appear in autumn, then resume growth in the spring. Mulch new plants for the winter. Oriental Poppies do best in cool climates; intolerant of hot, humid southern climates. May re-seed.
