5 Ways to Style a Stone Wine Cellar
When it comes to creating a stunning interior style for your home, any designer will tell you: Materials matter. For a statement material that will never go out of style, lately, we’ve been looking to the stone wine cellar. Conjure up an image of the most elegant and established European wine cellars in the world and there’s probably a wall or floor made entirely of stone. Or the whole cellar might even be carved into a stone hillside.
But while stone is typically associated with that old world feel, it's a surprisingly versatile material that can take on almost any look — from Tuscan to ultra modern — depending on how you style it. Here are 5 of our personal favorite takes.
1. The minimal rustic stone wine cellar

Do you like minimal homes and interiors, but still love natural materials and organic forms? A limited material palette with a heavy emphasis on stone is your ticket to a minimalist wine cellar style that will never leave you cold.
We love the simple elegance of the shelving in this Luberon wine cellar where brick and stone take center stage, and the owners’ wine collection evokes a sculptural quality through playful bottle groupings. Lighting is also key in this space with soft pendants casting gorgeous shadows on the ceiling and stone wall.
2. Traditional Tuscan wine cellar
We can’t talk about wine cellars and stone in the same sentence without mentioning the classic Tuscan style. Your home doesn't need a passport to create a cozy custom wine cellar space that is intimate, classy, and perfect for sipping Brunello.
If world travel and wine region destinations are on your vineyard touring bucket list, you can create your own little slice of Tuscany by using limestone or sandstone in your custom cellar.

3. Sleek & luxurious
If you crave clean lines and a more open, contemporary look to impress guests, bringing a dramatic touch of stonework into your cellar can create a show-stopping effect.
The trick to this look is to keep your color and material palette simple like the sophisticated earth tones in our Luxe Lodge project, sticking with neutral tones, subtly textured surfaces and allowing your wine collection to become the work of art on display.
4. Rich industrial using steel & brick
Brick is another masonry style that can give your wine cellar an instant vibe upgrade. Work with an existing brick wall, or install one as a feature in the space.
The beauty of brickwork is that different patterns can create a vastly different style whether you’re into traditional, industrial, or modern design. If you’re installing vs. working with an existing wall, you can bring a fresh take to brick by having it laid in different patterns, like a herringbone.
