As someone with Eastern European roots, Pierogi was one of my favorite meals as a kid. I still contend it’s one of the most satisfying meals you can have. Buttery dough balls filled with potatoes (and whatever the heck else you want to throw in there)? Sign us up!

Plus, there’s just something about Easter and the spring time that just puts me in the mood to eat 12 pierogi in one sitting.

But you don’t have to be Polish or Ukrainian to enjoy these heavenly dumplings. There are some serious pierogi spots around the city. So whether you’re harkening back to your roots or have never dipped your toes into the tasty world of pierogi, these are the spots you need to check out.

Did we miss one? Did one of these places close? Send us a note!

Sweet CLE-‘bus

447 Lazelle Rd, Westerville, OH 43081

With her roots firmly planted in Cleveland’s Polish community, owner Lizz found a true passion in recreating the foods her grandmother used to make, and we’re so glad she did. Her pierogi are no joke, offering flavors like Sharp White Cheddar Jalapeño, Garlic and Chive, Fiery Pickle, and Smokehouse Brisket & Cheddar. Her flavors are constantly rotating, so be sure to check her website and social media for the current availability.

Pierogi Mountain

105 N Grant Ave, Columbus, OH 43215

Pierogi Mountain was an absolute staple throughout my college years. They went from a hidden gem to a full-on Columbus favorite over the past few years, and it’s kinda like watching your favorite child grow up and become a superstar (c’mon, we all know you have a favorite kid). Pierogi Mountain has traditional flavors, but their claim to fame was thanks to their unique flavors like Tomato Balsamic & Basil, Roasted Beet Cream & Mulling Spices, and Aloo Vindaloo. Go climb the mountain. You’ll be glad you did.

Hubert’s Polish Kitchen

59 Spruce St, Columbus, OH 43215

Located inside of North Market Downtown, Hubert’s Polish Kitchen slings authentic Polish fare using traditional Polish recipes that they took with them when they emigrated from Poland to the United States. Everything here is made from scratch using the same methods that their family and friends and Poland used. And by golly, it’s delicious!

Romashka Euro Deli

2400 W Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43235

This European Deli is home to some of the most authentic pierogi you’ll find anywhere outside of, well, Europe. Some flavors you can expect to find here include cherry, cabbage, potato and mushroom, and cottage cheese. I’m just now realizing I’ve never had pierogi with cottage cheese, and that needs to change immediately.

Diana Deli

3520 W Granville Rd, Columbus, OH 43235

Like Romashka Euro Deli, Diana Deli is a European Deli with plenty of product offerings outside of pierogi. But if you are looking for authentic pierogi with delicious flavors to choose from, Diana Deli hits every time. There’s just nothing quite like traditional pierogi!
