Helping Senior Citizens in the Tampa Bay Community Feel More Included – #ThatBusinessShow – Featuring Nicholas Paras and Theresa Turner

#ThatBusinessShow aired today with Jamie Meloni alone in the studio with our producer Gary Gilkey who produces the live video stream, available on tampabayradio.com.  Our guest for the hour, Deborah Cox Roush, was called up to Washington to work on the transition team with Donald Trump as she was his Campaign Director for the Republican Party in Florida and is very involved in the campaign.  We will invite her back in the future and she has been on the program before and can be viewed here.  Kelly Wilson was out sick and Jamie used the opportunity to discuss his favorite topic with Gary, Professional Wrestling.  Well, maybe not his favorite topic, but one he definitely enjoys talking about.

Gary Gilkey, who recently came on the show as the new producer for the streamcast, is very connected to the Tampa area wrestling environment.  He works with shows on announcing and helps with promotions with the local up and coming wrestlers at the schools.  With his background as an assistant to Bubba the Love Sponge, he came across many of the industry greats including Hulk Hogan and Macho Many Randy Savage.  Jamie and Gary share some good laughs on the Tampa based wrestlers which are many in the region.  Tampa is home to Hulk Hogan and the wrestling school which produces the NXT brand of wrestlers through the WWE.  Gary has also recently became inspired to launch his bar trivia business due to the inspiration he received listening to the guests and Jamie on the program.  His business today has 19 staff members and multiple bar locations across several states.

First up on the 7AM hour, Jamie Meloni and Kelly Wilson invited Brian Kornfeld of PopKorn Apps onto the discussion! Brian is the Founder of PopKorn Apps where he works to design apps at a fraction of the cost of the typical app designer. Brian has a background in aerospace engineering and utilizes his extensive knowledge of systems and processes to design apps efficiently, thus reducing the time and cost to market versus his competitors. We touched on the RhiKnow App he developed last year that works as a social network to get recommendations from just your friend/peer network on places to eat, travel and more; think of it as Yelp with just recommendations from people you know and trust. This app can be found on iOS and Android operating systems free of charge too.  Brian also elaborates on some of his other creations including Cheap Buzz which is a great way for college students to hear about deals at local bars. CheepBuzz allows for bars to post any special and have the users sort through and see what they might like.  Users can even get better specials by using the “Chick-In” function, which will only work while they are at a given bar during the time of the deal. We also heard about Eazy Menu which is a new and innovative way to help you pick your best option to eat at a large number of restaurants. EazyMenu takes your dietary preferences and restrictions to help comb through large menus while helping you easily read in a dark restaurant, saving you time and stress.  There have been many app success stories in the news lately including PikMyKid which we highlighted last year just after launch and today is in discussion with Microsoft on a deal. Next up on the 7AM Hour was Tim Pickens, Owner of Wonderfall! Tim Pickens is a fourth generation Floridian, minster, inventor, and small business owner who has always been creative; he just didn’t know until about twenty years ago when he was helping his sister set up her Christmas village display.  He made his own snow for the display by rubbing two Styrofoam blocks together above the display. In the 7am hour today, we welcomed Regular Contributor Brian Kornfeld to the program.  Brian is the Founder of PopKorn Apps where he works to design apps at a fraction of the cost of the typical app designer.  Brian has a background in aerospace engineering and utilizes his extensive knowledge of systems and processes to design apps efficiently, thus reducing the time and cost to market versus his competitors.  We touched on the RhiKnow App he developed last year that works as a social network to get recommendations from just your friend/peer network on places to eat, travel and more; think of it as Yelp with just recommendations from people you know and trust.  This app can be found on iOS and Android operating systems free of charge too.  Brian also elaborates on some of his other creations including Cheap Buzz which is a great way for college students to hear about deals at local bars.  CheepBuzz allows for bars to post any special and have the users sort through and see what they might like.  Users can even get better specials by using the “Chick-In” function, which will only work while they are at a given bar during the time of the deal.   We also heard about Eazy Menu which is a new and innovative way to help you pick your best option to eat at a large number of restaurants.  EazyMenu takes your dietary preferences and restrictions to help comb through large menus while helping you easily read in a dark restaurant, saving you time and stress.  There have been many app success stories in the news lately including PikMyKid which we highlighted last year just after launch and today is in discussion with Microsoft on a deal.  With the move from desktop to mobile, apps are in high demand, you just need an idea to get started.  Brian invites you out for a discussion free of charge – give him a call at 727-415-6705 and visit him online at www.popkornapps.com!

Carole Sanek is the CEO of Butterfly Boom Productions and the creator of two podcast shows; The Crazy Marketing Ladies Show and The Nearness of You, a history show based on her father’s love letters home from WWII.  She has worn many hats in her career choices over the years and moved here with the intent to work in real estate but that quickly changed when she learned to blog.  From there just kept learning as much as she could about social media.  One day a friend told her she should open a business and it has been non-stop ever since.  Carole is a freelance writer, content creator and has written three award winning blogs. The Aga Khan Foundation Walk is an event that is held every year in Florida, and most major cities around the country to highlight the works of the Aga Khan Foundation.
