Saraswati Puja 2021: Why yellow colour is so important?

Saraswati Puja 2021 is being celebrated today i.e. February 16, 2021. This festival is also known as Basant Panchami as it falls on the Panchmi tithi of Magh month as per Hindu Panchang. This day is also known by the name Vasant or Shree Panchami.
On this day, Hindu devotees worship Maa Saraswati - the Goddess of knowledge, art and creativity. It is believed that Goddess Saraswati was born on Vasant Panchami Day.Children are taught reading and writing their first words on this day. Students and artisans keep their notebooks, pens and educational items, art supplies near the statue of Goddess Saraswati and chant Maa Saraswati slokas to get her blessings.
Importance of yellow colour during Saraswati Puja
Saraswati Puja is celebrated during the spring season and hence 'Yellow' is the dominant colour of this festival as it signifies the ripening of fruits and crops. The mustard fields in North India blooms during this season giving a yellow coat to nature. People wear yellow clothes, offer yellow flowers to Goddess Saraswati and put a yellow, turmeric tilak on their forehead.
The colour yellow is also deeply associated with teachers, wisdom and also auspiciousness. Associating yellow colour with Goddess Saraswati has got a deep significance of portraying Maa Saraswati as the Goddess of wisdom.
