One of California’s most beloved diners is headed to Nevada and recent signage now confirms a Bob’s Big Boy restaurant is “coming soon” to Indian Springs.

Yet to be formally announced, the full-service restaurant been been steadily under construction during the coronavirus pandemic at 225 E. Highway 95 N., joining a 17,300-square-foot combination Terrible Herbst casino, gas station, and store, all located a 40-minute drive from downtown.

First revealed back in April, the restaurant now sports the face of the Herbst empire’s Mr. Terrible mascot over the casino front door. Bob’s Big Boy will take over 4,598 square feet, creating room enough for a maximum occupancy of 178 inside. The project was originally allocated an estimated construction budget of $514,220 to move into the built-from-scratch structure.

Created in 1936 and at its peak operating 240 diners, Bob’s Big Boy features a retro decor and menu featuring double-decker burgers, milkshakes served in a silver tin goblet, patty melts, fried chicken, and blue plate special-style entrees are all expected. A Streamline Moderne spin on the famous Bob’s Big Boy exterior design is currently not in the works.

An updated opening date or future operating hours have not been released.
