We hope the ABBAtars have valid passports.

ABBA fans around the world can rejoice as it has been confirmed that the 'Voyage' avatar concert by the legendary Swedish pop group will be going on a global tour. The announcement was made by Universal Music Group chairman, Sir Lucian Grainge, during an earnings call for the company.

The 'Voyage' avatar concert features ABBA's four members, Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, appearing as digital avatars (dubbed 'ABBAtars'). A groundbreaking experience for fans of the long defunct Swedish band, the concerts kicked off in May 2022 at a purpose-built venue at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London, officially called the ABBA Arena.

Dates are have been extended until January 2024, with the possibility to further extend the shows up until April 2026.

Music mogul Grainge is quoted by Variety as saying: “Plans are now in development to take ‘ABBA Voyage’ around the world." No dates have been confirmed for the global run.

The 'Super Trouper' hitmakers have previously teased they are planning to use their concert holograms for "exciting new things" in the future.

“If you are an ABBA fan, who loyally has stuck with us for many years," said the band, "our hope is you will see the Abba-tars as agents in the new story, which may lead to exciting new things in the future."
