Engaged firefighters severely injured in on-duty accident in Upson County

UPSON COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) - Two firefighters were injured while on duty Saturday in Upson County.

The Georgia State Patrol confirms to WGXA News that, just after 4 p.m. Saturday, their troopers were called to the wreck on Mud Bridge Road about a mile south of Rocky Bottom Road in Upson County. GSP Investigators say the fire truck flipped when trying to navigate through a curve and the driver lost control. Both firefighters hurt were thrown from the truck when it flipped.

Investigators say the firefighters were responding to a wreck on Rocky Bottom Road when their crash happened.

Another agency has confirmed the two firefighters, named Trista and Logan, are engaged to be married. Trista has had at least one surgery. Logan has been placed in a medically-induced coma due to the severity of his injuries. Surgeons were not able to operate Saturday night.

No other details have been released.
