With roughly a month and a half to go to the beginning of the Athletics events of the Athens Olympics, World Long Jump champion Eunice Barber of France has today announced that she will be out of action for three weeks after picking up a right inner thigh injury in training.

"Early diagnosis were that it was a relatively harmless injury
but after a second scan, the inflammation reduced, we found that the injury was more serious," explained 29-year-old who also took the World Heptathlon silver medal.

The injury was a slight tear between the muscle and the tendon.

"I have to undergo three weeks treatment before going back to training, but I'm confident for my preparation," confirmed Barber.

She will miss the French Championships (July 16-18) and should return to training at the end of July.
