I'll preface this by saying the type of music fans that lament a band "changing" or "abandoning their old fans" might not like the new versions. I happen to like both but I own every album they have released and I will readily admit I'm a Lacuna Coil mega fan. I even own their Horns Up board game from kickstarter just because.
It is actually very cool to me to listen to the original Comalies side by side with the new stuff and hear how their sound has evolved. In my mind, the essence is still very much Lacuna Coil. Think of it like they're making chili and they added a little less here, a little more there and maybe a new spice or two....the new stuff is still Chili but it might not suit everyone's tastes who loved the old recipe. If you're a fan of LC in general (old and new stuff) then definitely give this a try.

Emotional, driving guitars, heavy drums, guttural roars, and powerful soaring vocals is exactly what I was waiting for. I rate most songs wow and just a couple of them better than great. The growth of the band over its two decades is apparent in this work. Cristina Adriana is my queen of Goth Metal.

4.5 stars. This is my first Lacuna Coil purchase and I have to say that I am delighted thus far. The music here is both epic in scope and ethereal in tone. There is a very accessible feel to the album and it shows mostly in the polished production from start to finish; no track gets left behind. The songwriting is deceptive, seeming to be less complicated than it really is. There is a constant flow of creativity, with a heavenly lead female vocalist shimmering over the arrangements. As for the contrasting lead male vocalist, I never found it either annoying nor off-puting in any way, with the overall effect adding to the grandiose feel of the album. There are some influencial moments, like the track "Self Deception" which often sounds like an archival song from Paradise Lost's album "Draconian Times." My favorite track here is, without a doubt, "Angel's Punishment," with its echoing vocal layers and ambient textures, spoken word lyrics mixed with powerful screams and gorgeous wails. It has amazing depth, both musically and emotionally. As for the rest of the album, there is not one weak track here, each one containing something to enthrall and coax the listener into a state of willful addiction. Recommended.

Never heard of Lacuna Coil? Unfortunately, most listeners in the U.S. haven't, either. Why that is, I can't tell you, because they are easily the most talented rock band around these days. This 4th release by the Italian band is not better than their previous release "Unleashed Memories," but it's just as good. The songs are a bit heavier this time out, but Cristina Scabbia's voice remains beautiful, haunting, ethereal....perfect. Although this is their latest CD, it was actually the first one I heard and as soon as Cristina's voice came in on the first track ("Swamped"), I was hooked. And just when I though it couldn't get any better, the second track ("Heaven's a Lie") kicked in and just blew me completely away. I challenge you to find a song more worthy of being a hit. Don't let the fact that Lacuna Coil is (for some inexplicable reason) virtually unknown in the U.S. stop you. If you like rock music, of any genre, you'll love this CD and you'll love this band. Take a chance and you'll become a fan.

I love the band.
Has been one of my favorites since I was in high school.
I am old-fashioned and still purchase cds, cassettes and vinyls!

This is a really good album. This band has a lot of depth and a lot of talent. Every song is very enjoyable. There is rythm and difference between songs, I listen to these guys and they blow the new Velvet Revolver album away (Libertad). The lyrics are awesome. Sounds like I'm hyping them up, but I'm being impartial, this band has talent. I like the album actually better than Karmacode. The combination of the male and female vocals on the album is really cool, Christina Scabbia has an awesome voice and comes through very nicely and so is the lead singer guy, great voice. I would compare this album to the type of music from P.O.D. or a little bit from Type O Negative (but toned down from Type O, definitely not gothic). The guitar work is really amazing, these guys rock!! You will not be dissapointed with this album.

This album is tied with Lacuna Coil's previous work (In A Reverie) as being their very best work. There is not one bad song that I have listened to on this album. The mood that each song resonates feels very unique in comparison to other artists and bands of this genre. This mood is thanks in no small part to the two vocalists Cristina and Andrea. Cristina's beautiful (one could even say angelic) voice is complimented nicely with Andrea's more harsh vocals. While Andrea's work in Unleashed Memories was a little stronger, he does a fine job in Comalies. Overall, fans of the goth metal genre should definitely take notice of this album and band if they haven't already.

One of the tracks is what brought them to my attention, one track was soundtrack to resident evil movie.
And I bought all albums in bits ever since, quite a gd band me thinks
My taste in music is usually mostly Slipknot, Mudvayne, Sirena so makes sense I like this band really

Great sounding LP.. classic album.. however loses a star as songs tend to jump on side A (even after a good clean) which ruins the overall experience .. Amazon were understanding with a partial refund..
Recommemded.. bit of luck and you won't get this problem..
