    Horrible quality mainly because the thing canto figure out how to focus. I ended up having to install software and run it to disable auto-focus and adjust myself. I returned it and with with the Logitech C600 pro. it's better but still not great.

    Yes, that horrible "autofocus issue" doesn't seem to ever get fixed by Microsoft.

    On my old Windows XP, at least there was a checkbox to disable the autofocus but I cant find it anymore on Windows 7.

    The camera has a very good image and looks nice.

    Works for any kind of computer desktops or laptops. Testest on a Lenovo desktop and a Macbook pro.
    Mechanically though, it fits only on LAPTOPS, so I had to improvise a tab on the monitor so the camera could grab it and stay put. Of course, you can put it anywhere as long as it can "hold on to".

    Recommended: no, because of the autofocus.

    Shame on me for not researching this products quality. It's not clear to me how many customers have seen the issue of the autofocus, resetting and trying to refocus every 20 seconds. Microsoft has known about this issue since 2010, but their only solution is to turn autofocus "OFF". [...]. I have checked for updates, and the camera came with the latest firmware available. To me, the autofocus is a selling point and not a feature that I would choose to turn off to get it to work properly. Unfortunately, it appears that the quality of other web cams at this price point is also spotty. You may get lucky and get a good one. From what I've read on microsoft blog spot, even after getting a replacement, the new one also doesn't work. FYI I purchased this at the end of Jan 2013, and today is Feb 14, 2013.
    hope this helps someone from making a hasty purchase.

    As with any MS product, the presentation is great, the product is well built, and it serves it's purpose.

    Image and sound quality are great. Full HD with a little bit of compression and a very sensitive, static free mic (if you're connections allow it).

    The only issue I have with it is the included software and it's auto focus. The software is a little bloated, and the auto focus sometimes just decides to make things blurry for no reason, but all in all, it's a great buy.
