I live in suburban Sacramento and have significant light pollution. The filter works well on emission nebula (such as Orion). It does increase contrast between sky and the object observed. I could see more detail in the Orion Nebula. Given that it has narrow passes on the spectrum, there is a green tinge to what you are viewing, however I found this not to be an issue, since it works best on objec0st we do not perceive as colored. I use it with my Celestron 102mm f/10 refractor. Eyepieces were a Celstron 32mm Plossl and University Optics 26mm.

Living in a suburb often means that even on clear nights, deep-sky objects can be challenging. Normally I work with an Orion 130EQ and an XT10, so aperture is not a significant problem. The Ring Nebula is easily visible, but the Andromeda galaxy can be challenging to resolve (growing up in very rural Missouri, I was accustomed to imaging our nearest large galactic neighbor naked eye). Adding the SkyGlow filter improved the visibility of the Ring Nebula significantly, Andromeda somewhat, and made many of Orion's deep objects more accessible. The only downside is the greenish-tint often imparted on starlight.

However, on the whole, if you live in moderately light-polluted environments, I would recommend going with this filter over any number of the O(III) 1.25 inch filters readily available. O(III) is great if you have pure skies and wish to observe nebulae or galaxies, but the SkyGlow is fantastic if you just want to observe in a less-than-perfect environment.

Let me start by saying this is the only filter of this type I've used, and that I'm not heavily experienced in the hobby. That said....... I live in an area that is at very least moderately light polluted. I have used this a few times now. I have found that it helps resolve Nebulas, and Galaxies, a little. I wasn't sure what to expect, and was of course hoping to have all my light pollution problems solved. Hey, I can dream can't I? It does help Nebulas and Galaxies to appear more defined. It just didn't knock my socks off. I think it's worth the money I spent. If you're new to the hobby, my advise would be to join an astronomy club and see if other members have different types and makes of filters for you to look through.

Maybe I expected too much, living in light-polluted upper Manhattan, but this filter didn't seem to do much, as opposed to the "swan band" filter I purchased which makes certain nebulae like M-42 pop right out of the eyepiece at you!

I have the Ultra and the Oxygen-III for Nebula viewing. I purchased this for two reasons:
1.) Some internet articles suggested this filter will help in seeing some Nebula's, and other faint objects independent of light pollution issues from the viewing area.
2.) I'm in a terrible Light Polluted area, and any help is welcome!!

I was able to see M1 (crab Nebula) from my yard using this filter. But the view was very very faint (.5 to1 on a scale of 10). According to articles for Urban viewing, they recommend skipping M1, too faint - need dark skies.

So I'm happy...

I had this filter but returned it to get the sky glow imaging filter but the back ground on this filter is blue. I sure that post processing will fix that but I am not there yet. so that being said the $49 sky glow is better for images to me at this time and I will reorder it. it is good for viewing and imaging , it is worth the money!

This product works so well with my telescope and especially works for where I live! At times there is a lot of light pollution and you can see things clearly with this lens! Thank you:)

5.0 out of 5 stars Rendimiento esperado

Reviewed in Spain on December 30, 2018

5.0 out of 5 stars Filtro necessario per riprendere oggetti nebulari dai cieli inquinati delle nostre città.
