    These senders are well made and hold up to tough marine environments. Just make sure you realize why the body is made from brass. Brass is soft and creates a seal with NO added sealant or esp. Teflon tape! The sender grounds itself via the body treads and use of any sealant interferes the ground. Senders like these provide a limited connection to ground that increases with heat. To test your gauge simply ground the sensor wire. It should peg the gauge to the high side. Using a sealant may make the gauge read lower than the real temperature.
