Vitaly Kutsenko lives in Ukraine. The 2014 war was for him, as for many residents of his native Luhansk, a turning point in his life. After that, he began to get involved in abstract art, not wanting to realistically portray the horrors of the world around him, but drawing inspiration from the depths of his consciousness.
I love the magic of creating shapes and colors in motion and stillness. Each abstract painting is a microcosm, a mini world in which entities created by my imagination live. That is why I like geometric abstraction so much, the style in which I am currently creating.
It is easy to see that I create paintings in the style of Suprematism. The founder of the movement, Russian artist Kazimir Malevich, best described this style:
“Under Suprematism, I understand the primacy of pure feeling in creativity. For the Suprematist, the visual phenomena of the objective world are in themselves meaningless; the meaningful thing is the feeling as such, completely separate from the environment in which it is evoked.”
I am also inspired by the Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky, who is usually considered the pioneer of abstract art.
