Gabourey Sidibe’s Husband Brandon Frankel Just Got a Tattoo of His Wife’s Name

Gabourey Sidibe and Brandon Frankel might have made their marriage official when they tied the knot in March of 2021 (which the couple revealed in December of 2022), but Frankel just gave their relationship a whole new level of permanence. On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, the chief business officer of NoCap revealed on Instagram that he got his wife’s name tattooed on his leg. Frankel debuted his new ink by uploading a clip of the process and capturing the Precious star’s reaction on Instagram. 

The video begins with the tattoo artist using a tattoo gun to spell out “Gabourey” before Frankel shows a close-up of the final product. Then, the founder of festival collective brand SUPERF3ST debuts the new ink to his wife. “I have a surprise,” Frankel says in the video while fixing the camera on Sidibe. “Huh?” Sidibe responds. “You do? Oh, what did you do? What did you do? Why did you do this?” Frankel follows up with, “Because I wanted to.” Sidibe couldn’t argue with that. “OK,” she says. Then, Frankel asks, “Did I spell it right?” Sidibe laughs and uses it as an opportunity to tease her husband. “You idiot, bi**h,” she tells him. “Yes, you spelled it correctly. Good job.”

In his caption, Frankel explains why he decided to permanently place Sidibe’s name on his body. “I love my wife so much I wanted to ink her name on me forever,” he writes. “That’s how much I love her. And she was very worried once I showed her what I did that y’all would think she made me do it. I assure you, I’m just crazy in love 😂😍🥰🖋️.”

The entertainment aficionado and the Oscar-nominated actress recently celebrated another milestone in their relationship: Their second wedding anniversary. On March 12, 2023, Frankel marked the special day by posting a montage of photos and videos that documented some of their biggest moments together. Most of the footage features shots from the duo’s Brides cover shoot for our fourth digital issue, including photos of Sidibe in her dramatic white wedding dress with an oversized bow, her colorful long-sleeve ensemble with a fun pattern, and her yellow tulle gown. Another moment that Frankel captures is Sidibe’s appearance on Live With Kelly and Ryan.

To supplement the sweet video, Frankel expressed his love for Sidibe in his caption. “Happy 2nd Anniversary to my beautiful wife @gabby3shabby!” he exclaims. “I couldn’t imagine a life without you in it. You make me laugh uncontrollably, we have fun anywhere and everywhere we go, you impress and inspire me on the daily, and I’m the luckiest man in the world. It feels like I’ve known and loved you my entire life, even though it’s only been four years. I’m so excited to experience more life together with you, and the best is yet to come (which seems impossible, since this has been a dream). I love you forever and ever- now let’s get to bed by 8pm and throw on a few of our programs. ❤️💕😍😘♾️💍👰🏿🤵🏻🐾🐾.” 

For their first wedding anniversary, Frankel surprised Sidibe with a picnic on the beach, which he posted about a year later on February 1, 2023. “I’m usually horrible with surprises and I totally got her!” Frankel captioned the post. “Watch til the end for some laughs - can’t believe it’s TWO YEARS this coming March. Time flies when you’re having fun 😍🥹🥰.” Besides showing the elaborate spread, featuring a charcuterie board, a “Happy First Anniversary” sign, and scenic views of the ocean, the video also revealed the couple’s funny dialogue. “What is up with this Peloton class?” Frankel asks while pointing the camera to a group of bikes on the sand. “I’m not going to the beach to do a goddamn Peloton class or at home, honestly,” Sidibe laughs. “Quote her,” Frankel says. “Quote me,” Sidibe agrees.
