Robbie Williams fans, you're in luck as his brand new Netflix documentary is coming on 8th November and we can barely contain our excitement!

The four-part docu-series will give viewers an exclusive look at interviews, archival footage and more from Robbie's iconic career in the music industry, including his time in hit boyband, Take That.

But, when did Robbie leave Take That and what caused him to say goodbye to the band? Here's everything you need to know. Thank us later!

When did Robbie Williams leave Take That?

Take That were everyones favourite boyband in the 90s, forming in 1990 and making classic hits like 'Relight My Fire', 'Pray' and more.

The band was formed of five members – Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen, Howard Donald and, of course, Robbie Williams, who was just 16 when he joined.

But, after five years together, Robbie shockingly left the band in 1995 in the middle of their Nobody Else world tour (for us Gen Zs, it's just like when Zayn left One Direction!).

The following year, the four remaining members of Take That announced that they were splitting up, too.

Why did Robbie Williams leave Take That?

At the time, it was understood that Robbie left Take That due to issues with addiction and alcoholism, plus an alleged feud between him and fellow bandmate, Gary Barlow.

Since then, Robbie has shared that he was seriously struggling with his mental health when he abruptly left the band and was also asked to leave.

"I think that I was in the middle of a nervous breakdown, my first of many," he told the BBC last year.

"It felt like I was in some sort of burning building and I needed to get out. That's how it felt at the time. And then I was like, 'okay, I'll do this tour and then I'll leave.' And they actually went, 'Actually, if you're going to leave, can you go now?'."

On his feud with Gary, he added that he was "all up for that kind of conflict because I got some sort of kick from it."

"Unfortunately Gary didn't feel the say way and he didn't get a kick from it, because he was a well-rounded grown up that didn't need that sort of inflammation in his life.

"I so badly wanted him to respond in kind, but like I say, he's a well-rounded grown up," he continued.

Since then, Robbie has reunited with Take That over the years, including in 2011 and 2020.
