About the Hisense C1

Colin M.

Laser-focused 4K in a compact package

The award-winning Hisense C1 offers sharp, cinematic picture quality in a mini projector that sits neatly on a desk or tabletop. An adjustable digital lens allows it to project images to fit screens from 65" all the way up to 300" (sold separately) for a riveting home theater experience. And its onboard AutoMagic AI automatically aligns and focuses the image on your screen and performs keystone correction if you're projecting from an angle. It can even resize the image to avoid obstacles that would block part of the picture. This makes it super easy to get started — plug the projector into AC power and you're off to the races in mere minutes.

Trichroma Laser Technology: The Hisense C1 projector's impressive color space of 110% BT.2020 is a testament to its remarkable Trichroma laser engine that surpasses industry standards. Trichroma Laser Technology uses pure red, green, and blue lasers to deliver an unprecedented picture with over 1.07 billion shades of color, reaching 110% of the BT.2020 color space. The C 1 laser mini projector produces 1600 lumens of brightness and offers a 2,000:000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for a brilliant HDR (High Dynamic Range) video image with detailed highlights, vibrant colors, and bold blacks - making everything pop off the screen.

  • The eye-protection function dims the projector's laser light source when something gets a little too close. You can turn this feature on or off.
  • Laser light technology provides up to 25,000 hours of entertainment without an loss of performance.

Digital Lens Focus with Auto Keystone Correction: With a Digital Lens Focus feature, the image is always crisp and clear, regardless of size, ranging from 65" to 300". When set to Auto, the projector's Digital Lens Focus feature can automatically adjust the focus to make your projector picture clear. The laser mini project can also perform automatic keystone correction on the projected screen and automatically changes the screen shape into a rectangle.

Aspect Ratio Screen Or Image Size Projection Distance
16:9 65" 68"
70" 73"
80" 84"
90" 94"
100" 105"
120" 126"
150" 157"

Note: The C1 projector must be mounted on a flat tabletop surface and in front of the projector. It does not support ceiling mounting or rear projection.

4K Ultra HD via XPR Pixel-Shift Technology: The Hisense C1 has a native resolution of 1080p, but can accept a 4K video signal and display a 4K video signal through XPR Pixel-Shift technology. The Hisense C1 laser mini projector utilizes DLP XPR Technology (Texas Instruments' pixel-shifting technology) to achieve 4K resolution with 8.3 million distinct pixels. XPR Technology perfectly quadruples the projector's 0.47" DMD chip's 1920x1080 pixels to generate 8.3 million pixels with ultra-fast pixel shifting speed for 4K content. 4K Ultra HD has 4x more detail than Full HD 1080p.

Dual HDMI Inputs: The Hisense C1 is outfitted with two HDMI inputs (one HDMI 2.1 input and one HDMI 2.0 input) that allow you to connect your Ultra-HD and HD sources; such as your Blu-ray player, satellite/cable box, media stick, and/or game system. In addition, both HDMI inputs can be used to connect a PC to the Laser TV.

  • Supported Video Resolutions: Both HDMI inputs will accept up to 4K (3840 x 2160) @ 60Hz. 1080p/i, 720p, and 480p/i video resolutions are also supported.
  • HDCP 2.2: HDCP 2.2 is supported by all of the TV's HDMI inputs. HDCP 2.2 is short for "High bandwidth Digital Content Protection" and is used for 4K video copyright protection for compatibility with Ultra HD Blu-ray players and 4K Satellite/Cable providers.
  • 4:4:4 Color Subsampling: Both HDMI inputs will support up to 4:4:4 chroma subsampling for full color data rendering of 4K video (4:2:2 and 4:2:0 are also supported by all HDMI inputs). With 4:4:4 color, luminance (brightness) and chroma (color) are sampled at the same rate, resulting in an RGB color palette as big as the video sampling rate for a video image with more total colors, plus greater color accuracy and detail.

Note: The projector does not contain any analog video inputs.

HDR (High Dynamic Range): The C1 laser mini projector offers the ability to provide a premium High Dynamic Range (HDR) experience, with a higher level of contrast between light and dark images. HDR delivers a much higher level of contrast between light and dark to produce an image that is more realistic and closer to what the content creator imagined. This increased contrast reveals the subtle nuances of the image, from detailed blacks and shadows to the brightest whites and colors, plus greater depth.

  • HDR10: HDR10 is an open standard and currently the most popular HDR format on the market. It supports 10-bit color and 1,000 nits. It uses static metadata at the start of a movie to tell the receiver and your TV that the video content is encoded using HDR.
  • Dolby Vision: Dolby Vision Content has dynamic metadata that is produced during content creation, capturing the dynamic properties of each scene. This dynamic metadata is used to optimize the picture brightness curve on a frame-by-frame basis. Dolby Vision is the preferred HDR format by major Hollywood Studios and delivers the cinematic experience the creator intended by optimizing the picture frame-by-frame.
  • HLG: HLG (Hybrid-Log Gamma) is primarily designed for live video feed and over-the-air broadcasts. It uses no pre-encoded metadata and is backwards compatible with SDR. HLG's native compatibility allows much of today's existing SDR infrastructure to be re-used for HDR in the future.

Note: HDR10+ is not supported.

MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation): With microsecond level-processor response and MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation) technology the C1 laser mini projector ensures you never miss a moment of the action. Fast moving video images from sports, games and action films are exceptionally smooth and crystal clear. The projector's native refresh rate is 60Hz.

Picture Modes: The Hisense C1 laser mini projector offers a number of preset pictures modes (such as Filmmaker and Game) to suit a variety of applications and content. You can also manually adjust picture settings such as Contrast, Brightness, Color, Tint, Sharpness, Noise Reduction, White Balance, Color Space, and Gamma. Picture modes and settings can be applied to an individual source or all sources.

  • Filmmaker Mode: Filmmaker Mode disables any motion processing adjustments from the projector settings to ensure you’re seeing content exactly the way the movie-makers intended. Filmmaker Mode automatically adjusts picture settings to get content looking the way the movie-makers intended, reserving the director's creative intent to provide a more cinematic experience.
  • Game Mode with ALLM: You can enable Game Mode to optimize the projector's settings for playing video games with a gaming console. Game Mode bypasses and disables some of the projector's video processing to allow for faster video gaming response time. ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) detects when a gaming console is the active source and automatically adjusts projector settings to optimize game performance.

eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel): The Enhanced Audio Return Channel within the projector's HDMI 2 input enables the projector, via a single HDMI cable, to send audio data "upstream" to an AV receiver; increasing user flexibility and eliminating the need for any separate S/PDIF audio connection. This feature allows audio to be sent from the projector to your AV receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio/video to the projector. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to the projector. eARC allows audio from the projector tuner, Network connection, inserted USB device, or HDMI inputs connected device to be heard through your eARC compatible AV receiver via the projector's HDMI eARC input.

  • The audio from the projector's HDMI inputs, USB ports, and online entertainment apps can pass as Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and Dolby Atmos; as well as 2ch, 5.1ch, and 7.1ch PCM.
  • Your AV receiver or soundbar will also have to support eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) to accommodate the playback of these high resolution audio formats. If your AV receiver or soundbar only supports ARC (Audio Return Channel), audio playback will be limited to Dolby Digital or 5.1ch/2ch PCM.
  • DTS, DTS:X, and other DTS surround sound formats are not supported.

Analog & Digital Audio Out: The Hisense C1 is outfitted with analog & digital audio outputs (only one output can be used). The stereo minijack (3.5mm) analog output can be connected to a receiver, soundbar, powered speakers, or set of headphones. The projector's optical (toslink) digital output terminal will output Dolby Digital (when available) or 2ch PCM. The digital optical output terminal only sends an audio signal in Dolby Digital when receiving Dolby Digital surround sound from HDMI inputs, online entertainment apps, or USB ports. When the projector's analog or digital output is selected, the projector's built-in speaker system is muted.

JBL Sound with Dolby Atmos: The Hisense C1 is certified by Dolby Atmos and powered by JBL Audio Solution, providing an immersive audio experience while watching your favorite movie on the big screen. With a JBL 20W speaker system and Dolby Atmos sound, the C1 sounds much bigger than it looks. Get clear speech, crisp highs, and booming lows without having to invest in any extra audio gear. You can choose between a variety of sound modes including Standard, Theater, Music, Speech, Late Night, or Sports.

External AC Power Supply: The included external AC power supply plugs into the back of the Hisense C1 laser mini projector and into an AC wall outlet or surge protector/line-conditioner (sold separately).

Network, Bluetooth, & USB Integration

Via the TV's network connection you gain access to a variety of online entertainment streaming services. You also get the ability to mirror and stream content from your Android or Windows devices using Miracast, as well as Apple iOS devices using AirPlay 2. A wired Ethernet connection is recommended over a wireless WiFi connection for best performance. If you desire a WiFi connection, then use a dual-band Gigabit wireless-N router (or better).

  • Ethernet Jack: The Hisense C1 is equipped with an Ethernet (RJ45) LAN jack for connecting the laser mini projector to your home network and ISP (internet service provider).
  • Built-in WiFi: Built-in WiFi (802.11ax; 2.4/5GHz) allows you to wirelessly access your home network and the internet. A wireless connection requires a home network with an 802.11 access point (802.11n or better recommended) and internet connection. Supports WPS, WEP, and WPA/2/3 security.
  • Connection Speeds: A home network connection speed of at least 2.5 Mbps is recommended for standard definition, 10 Mbps for high definition, and 20 Mbps for ultra-high definition.

  • Miracast:  Miracast is a screen mirroring function which lets you wirelessly send the display from your compatible Windows 8.1+ or Android 4.2+ device (with support for Miracast) to the laser mini projector and projection screen. This allows you to view pictures and videos that are playing on your compatible Windows or Android device through the projector system.

Built-In Bluetooth: The Hisense C1 features built-in Bluetooth for wireless audio communication. It can be utilized as a Bluetooth receiver or Bluetooth transmitter. The projector has a wireless Bluetooth range of approximately 32.8'. Only one Bluetooth source device or speaker can be paired and connected at a time. Make sure your Bluetooth audio device or speaker supports A2DP and SCMS-T.

  • Bluetooth Receiver: In Receiver mode, you can use wirelessly stream audio from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer to the C1 projector's built-in speaker system for playback.
  • Bluetooth Transmitter: In Transmitter mode, you can wirelessly stream audio from the projector (including HDMI, USB, and VIDAA apps) to a wireless soundbar, speaker, or headphone. When the Bluetooth transmitter is utilized, the built-in speakers, plus analog and digital outputs (including eARC) are disabled.

Dual USB Ports: The Hisense C1 is equipped with two USB-A ports; there is a USB-A 3.0 port on the rear-panel and a USB-B 2.0 port. The USB-A 3.0 port is rated at 5V/1A, while the USB-A 2.0 port is rated at 5V/500mA. Both USB ports support connection of a USB MSC (mass storage class) device, such as a USB thumbdrive or HDD. Some HDDs will require an external AC power supply. The L5H laser projector allows you to playback audio, video, and photo files on a compatible USB MSC device.
