Discussing her new TV show, Charlotte's Dream Build, she explained: 'From the moment I saw that place I totally fell in love with it. It's huge, it's challenging, it's really exciting.'

As host Rochelle Humes asked if she was concerned about putting her life's savings on the line, Charlotte noted: 'The way I think about it, I've been privileged all my life to have this career and success and the money and freedom that that brings.

'It's only money. You've got to live a little.

'This is where my life is taking me. I'm a socialist so this is taking it out of private ownership and making it something that is for the people.'

Following her remarks, viewers flocked to Twitter to slam the singer's lack of 'self awareness'.

They penned: 'Seems a little bit in poor taste #ThisMorning having Charlotte Church on saying 'it's only money' (in relation to building her wellbeing retreat.) When the section before was talking about what you can cut out of your life to afford rising electricity bills';

'listening to Charlotte Church why is it that only wealthy people say 'it's only money' I have never ever heard anyone who is on a tight budget struggling can't get work say 'it's only money' because you would never hear them say 'it's only money'';

'dream build. Risking everything? With the support of discovery tv. You'll be alright, I thought you were for helping people? You have Laura Ashley's old home, hilarious. No self awareness or filter.'

'#ThisMorning Did Charlotte Church just say I am a socialist while talking about a property that she privately owns?'; '#ThisMorning I assume Charlotte the Socialist will be being Paid for this TV programme and will be CHARGING people to hire the Wedding Venue and 'Wellness Centre'!'

During the chat, Charlotte said:  'He's amazing. He's got a terminal illness. It's a really tricky disease, it's quite rare, I do try and bring awareness to what he's going through.

'He has a serious will to survive and he is doing marvellously, living life to the full.'

Charlotte was also pressed about her 'wild child' days, to which she reasoned: 'I've always been exactly the same.

'All of us, we're constantly discovering and the way I've been thinking about it recently as those little hermit crabs with the shells. You get to a certain point where you grow past and have to get a bigger shell, that's the analogy I'm going with.'
