It comes right after Jason broke his silence about Amazon reviving Neighbours just months after the soap was axed and he filmed a special finale with his former co-star, Kylie Minogue.

The show's biggest stars returned for the so-called finale, which aired in October 2022.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Kylie – whose career took off while she played mechanic Charlene Robinson between 1986 and 1988 – felt 'duped' into going back.

Speaking on Nova's Fitzy & Wippa with Katie Richie, Jason said it was surprising the show was revived so quickly, but he is happy for the crew who got to keep their jobs.

'I’ll be honest with you, it was a surprise,' he said.

'But.. I think anything that provides opportunity to keep people working and actors and producers and all those sort of things.'

Jason, who played Scott Robinson on the iconic soap, married Kylie's character Charlene Mitchell on-screen and the actors later developed a relationship off-screen.

Their relationship, which lasted for three years, was highly publicised and many Neighbours fans were extremely excited to see the two on-screen together once again.

Asked what it was like working with Kylie again, Jason said: 'It’s beautiful. It is amazing. Obviously, Kylie and I were a big part of that story.

'But a lot has gone on since. What I will say is nostalgia is massive at the moment.

'I think what was happening and the group of people there was a chemistry. There was some magic going on.'

The West End actor was then asked what his first kiss with Kylie's was like, but he laughed and admitted he doesn't remember.

'I’m gonna be honest, I can’t really remember that,' he said.

'There was a massive fusion between the characters on the show at the time and I think it was really a Scott And Charlene moment, right, not Jason and Kylie one no.'

Guy Pearce, who played Mike Young on Neighbours, made his feelings known last December at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television awards that he was not happy about how the reunion went down.

'It’s hard to watch, isn’t it? Knowing we’ll never see another episode ever again,' he said, as part of a tribute to the show on the night.

'A painful reminder the things we love can be snatched away, never to return … unless Amazon comes in to save the day and makes our finale look like a rather expensive exercise.

'I don’t want to say [it was a] waste of time. But still, I’m sure that Margot [Robbie] will be happy.'

Hollywood star Margot, who got her start in acting as Donna Freedman on the show, didn't return to Australia to film the reunion, but instead featured in a 14-second video message from Los Angeles.
