Fire Truck Crashes into Chinese Restaurant in LA

Fifteen people were injured after a fire truck crashed into Lu Dumpling House yesterday afternoon in the Los Angeles suburb of Monterey Park. Two fire trucks were responding to the same house fire and collided at an intersection, sending one of the trucks crashing into the Chinese restaurant.

According to CBS Los Angeles, six firefighters and eight civilians suffered injuries. One civilian has been hospitalized and is in critical condition, and Lu Dumpling House owner Vivian Lu tells the news station that an employee was among those injured. Witnesses reported that "a man standing in line outside was hit by the truck, pushed in the restaurant and became trapped underneath the wreckage." While L.A county fire fighters were able to tow the 40,000-pound fire engine from the site, CBS LA notes that it left a "gaping hole in the restaurant."
