Cheap and gets the job done
If you just need any old CPU in order to have a working machine, and can find a motherboard for it, then this makes a lot of sense. That said, you can buy a socket 1151 Pentium for not much more (around $50 CAD, or less than $40 USD) and have a much faster and more power efficient CPU. However, in the case of the Pentium, you will end up spending more on a newer 100 or 200 series motherboard and DDR4 RAM which is pricey these days.
