I had this game on Xbox 360 years ago and would do 12hr stints on it regularly. In my opinion a Brilliant game that I was addicted to. Best game I’ve ever played. Fallout Vegas is a great follow up, but I’ve never had the opportunity to play Fallout 4.

Excellent idea, vast and intelligent game let down by bugs
A rant first... This could have been a 5 star rating but this game in the PS3 format is not very stable and has the annoying habit of pausing, juddering motion and freezing at higher levels. Strange but I didn't have many problems at lower levels and if you buy the 'Game of the year' version with the add-ons included you can expect things to get worse! The story is set 200 years after nuclear Armageddon and follows the exiled vault dweller in a quest to find their father and finish his work to produce clean, radiation free water on a mass scale. Of course things are not going to be simple as the wastelands and capitol ruins are swarming with hostile mutated freaks and psychotic Mad Max 2 inspired raiders and in such a hostile world nobody does anything for anyone unless its in their ... What I really like about Fallout 3 is the role playing side of the game revolves around choice, the good, the bad and the ugly are all present and it's up to you to choose which path to follow at any given point as there is often no right or wrong way to play, if you choose to be good or bad things will turn out differently and each will open up it's own opportunities. It's a great concept and when it does work it does so flawlessly and it's one of the few games that doesn't give me motion sickness (which is a Brucie bonus!), but the bugs are infuriating and spoil an otherwise incredible game.
