Macbook Pro 2011
I removed my optical drive and replaced it with the old HDD. Then installed this SSD as my boot and main HD. Installation was easy and everything seems to be running smooth. Now I just need another one to replace my old HDD and try to set up a RAID 0. The reason why I did not give 5 stars is because in the box there is a link to install Crucial's Storage Executive software. While the actual SSD is compatible with Mac, the Storage Executive software isn't. It isn't necessary for the drive to function properly, but does have some convenient features that would be nice to have available. Great SATA SSD
The MX300 is essentially a TLC version of the MX200, but with 3D NAND. This opens up higher capacities. TLC Is generally not as durable as MLC, so one might consider that a 'downgrade,' but under normal write conditions it will still last long enough for pretty much anyone. Also, it's enough cheaper that I'd say this one is worth it. Let's face it- most of us aren't going to be keeping the same drive for 20 years... probably not even 10. In fact, I don't think I've ever used the same drive for more than 5 years on a machine I actually use on a daily basis. If you're like me, and you tend to use a machine daily for 2-4 years, then relegate it to a secondary role and only use it once a month... this drive will probably last longer than you will. If for some reason you're planning on using the same machine daily for 10+ years, or you are fond of doing something that requires a massive amount of data transfer/rewrite, you may want to get something more expensive with MLC flash (e.g. the MX200 or Samsung Pro series). If you're looking at that kind of long-term/long-wear use, then that would be a worthwhile investment. Regarding the interface, yes- NVMe is out now if your machine supports it. Yes, it is faster, but in most cases the difference is going to be pretty small. As far as SATA SSDs go, this one is about as fast as they come. So unless you're willing to pay a really hefty premium to step up to NVMe, you're just fine with the MX300.

I bought one of these on Feb 01, 2017 to replace the stock drive in my workstation laptop to speed it up & cut down on heat from the stock drive. I had owned SSD drives in the past but when I got this it was about the same weight as paper so I thought I had gotten scammed lol till I installed it & everything worked perfectly. This has been one of the best items I have bought online in years & still performing perfectly. I would recommend the drive model to anyone interested or in need. Now days if you shop around you can get 240GB SSDs for around $40 brand new so there is not as much need for the larger drives other then for gaming. These drives also make an older socket 1366 dual xeon much faster in boot times which is awesome. If you need an SSD drive around this size, this is a great ...
