There's no denying that Lizzie McGuire inspired some of our favourite noughties beauty looks. From space buns to frosted metallic lipsticks, the TV star's sticky sweet looks will have a place in our hearts forever.

So when Disney announced a hugely-anticipated reboot of the teen series in the summer, our lip gloss and hair crayon dreams officially came true. Although her beauty routine might have matured somewhat since her Lizzie McGuire days, Duff's go-to products and morning routine are still totally relatable.

Following her recent marriage to fiancé Matthew Koma (a white wedding that dreams are made of...), the Younger actress sat down with ELLE to chat eyebrows, her chocolate almond addiction and all the beauty lessons she's learnt since becoming a Disney Chanel star...

I hit the sack at...

...between 8.30-9pm. I know it sounds so lame but by the time it gets dark out, we’re all exhausted. Sometimes I get texts from friends at 9.15pm and I’m like are they kidding? It’s too late for that!

I wake up at...

...5am with my daughter. My son’s up at 6.30am, so it’s a pretty long day.

The first thing that passes my lips during the day is...

...coffee, always. Normally an iced coffee with almond milk.

The last thing that passes my lips at night is...

...chocolate covered almonds from Trader Joe’s, they’re the best.

My make-up routine...

...depends on how much time I have. When I’m dropping my son off at school I don’t have a lot of time so, I prep my skin a little with moisturiser and then a bit of sunscreen. I always have to do my brows before I go out no matter what. I’m obsessed with Wunderbrow with Glossier’s Boy Brow over the top. If I’ve got time, I’ll put one of the Nudestix Nudies on my lips and cheeks.

I exercise...

...four times a week in the morning. At the moment I’m doing a weightlifting class called Novo Body which has totally changed my body. If I can’t get to the gym, I will do 20 minutes on the treadmill at my house.

When I look in the mirror, I see...

...my high cheekbones that run in my family, I really appreciate those! When I was little I used to hate my big eyes but I’m so appreciative of them now that I’m older.

My inexcusable beauty habit is...

...giving myself DIY facials which everyone tells me off for. I don’t have time to get regular facials so I like to steam my face with a washcloth and then my Nurse Jamie Facial Massaging Roller. If someone’s driving me to work I’ll put all my creams on and use my roller in the car, it really helps get the blood flowing.

My greatest beauty discovery is...

...make-up in stick form. It means that if I’m going out of town I don’t have to worry about packing brushes. Plus, I like to use my fingers anyway to smudge, I don’t ever do a precise make-up application. My Nudestix products are so easy and so versatile. I’ve stuck with them which says a lot as I’m always trying new things and going back and forth with foundations, never loyal to one.

I feel happiest when...

...I’m having a quiet night in with my family with a bottle of wine open. Don’t get me wrong, kids are work but they really fill me up. I love getting to bed early and putting my phone away. It’s really rejuvenating for me to feel like ‘I’m going to get that done tomorrow, not now’. We’ve all become such slaves to answering right away and it’s too much sometimes. Of course if I want to vent, I love grabbing a drink with a girlfriend.

My fridge is always filled with...

...condiments. My son and daughter love pickled beets, olives and pickles. It’s like condiment city in our fridge.

The craziest thing I've done in the name of beauty is...

...dying my hair blue and pink. It’s not that crazy but I’m up for trying a Vampire Facial at some point, they sound really crazy.

My body is...

...incredible. Just like every other woman, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with it but I’m so appreciative of all it’s done for me. Being in my 30s, having two kids and being in a loving relationship has made me forget all the hang-ups I would have gone crazy about when I was younger.

I work out really hard, I carry my kids around all day, I feel grateful to be healthy and to feel good in my clothes. I think that’s what matters but I’m always in that struggle, you know?

I deal with stress by...

...working out four times a week. Taking time out for myself and doing something I enjoy clears my head. Plus all the usuals, going out with girlfriends, going on date nights. Me and Matt always try and do something interesting, the other week we went rock climbing which neither of us had ever done before. It’s about doing things you enjoy, sometimes just being in my house and organising is so therapeutic.

The biggest beauty lesson I ever learnt was...

...less is more. I used to wear so much make-up when I was younger! I was always on top of getting facials but now I feel that if I just stick to a good skin regime: cleaning my face at the end of the night, moisturising, putting on eye cream, that’s enough for me. I feel much more myself when I’ve not got make-up on all the time.
