1-Igor Akinfeyev (CSKA Moscow). Goalkeeper. Born 8.4.86. Caps 23 Tournament appearances: 4. Goals conceded: 5. Yellow cards: 0.
Has played in all Russia's matches at Euro 2008. After letting in four goals in the first group match against Spain, more because of the team's defensive frailties than anything he did wrong, he has let in just one more -- against Netherlands in the quarter-finals.
12-Vladimir Gabulov (Amkar Perm). Goalkeeper. Born 19.10.83. Caps 4. Tournament appearances: 0. Goals conceded: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
Deputised for Akinfeyev during the second part of Russia's qualifying campaign, playing in a key 2-1 win over England in Moscow last October that helped them reach the finals. Quick and agile, Gabulov is solid both in goal and coming off his line. Yet to appear at Euro 2008.
16-Vyacheslav Malafeyev (Zenit St Petersburg). Goalkeeper. Born 4.3.79. Caps 16. Goals 0. Tournament appearances: 0. Goals conceded: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
Made his Russia debut against Wales in the second leg of the Euro 2004 playoff in Cardiff in November 2003 when he stepped in for the suspended Sergei Ovchinnikov and kept a clean sheet. Solid if unspectacular, the experienced Malafeyev has regained the number one role at club level this year, helping Zenit win the UEFA Cup. Played at Euro 2004 but yet to feature here.
5-Alexei Berezutsky (CSKA Moscow). Defender. Born 20.6.82. Caps 29. Goals. 0 Tournament appearances: 0. Goals conceded: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
A tall, powerful left back who relies more on strength than skill. Has stayed on the bench here with Russia coach Guus Hiddink preferring Yuri Zhirkov.
2-Vasily Berezutsky (CSKA Moscow). Defender. Born 20.6.82. Caps 27. Goals 1 Tournament appearances: 1. Goals conceded: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
Like his twin brother Alexei, he is strong in the air and likes to get forward for set pieces. Made a brief appearance in the final minutes of the group match against Greece.
4-Sergei Ignashevich (CSKA Moscow). Defender. Born 14.7.79. Caps 38. Goals 3 Tournament appearances: 3. Goals: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
Tough central defender with a powerful shot. Not as dependable as in the past. A member of the Euro 2004 squad, but did not play. Was left on the bench in the first match against Spain here but has since started every game and the defence looks much tighter with him in it.
22-Alexander Anyukov (Zenit St Petersburg). Defender. Born 28.9.82. Caps 33. Goals 1 Tournament appearances: 4. Goals: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
Speedy right back with a fine shot, he can also play in midfield. Good one-on-one marker, who has started every match at this championship.
3-Renat Yanbayev (Lokomotiv Moscow). Defender. Born 7.4.84. Caps 2. Goals 0 Tournament appearances: 0. Goals: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
Newcomer to the national team. Became a surprise late addition to the provisional 25-man squad. Plays left back for Lokomotiv having been an attacking midfielder at Khimki. Has been keeping the bench warm at Euro 2008.
15-Diniyar Bilyaletdinov (Lokomotiv Moscow). Midfielder. Born 27.2.85. Caps 24. Goals 1 Tournament appearances: 4. Goals: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
A very skilful midfielder, he became Lokomotiv captain this season at 23 and has caught the attention of several top European clubs. Has mainly started here and has looked lively, making some dangerous runs into the box.
23-Vladimir Bystrov (Spartak Moscow). Midfielder. Born 31.1.84. Caps 21. Goals 4. Tournament appearances: 2. Goals: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
A speedy right winger, he does justice to his surname (Bystro meaning 'quick' in Russian). His only weakness is being injury-prone. Played at Euro 2004. Time on the pitch here has been short, with Hiddink bringing him on as a substitute against Spain and then taking him off 25 minutes later, and then sending him on in the last minute against Sweden.
18-Yuri Zhirkov (CSKA Moscow). Midfielder. Born 20.8.83. Caps 20. Goals 0 Tournament appearances: 4. Goals: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
A tireless left winger, he has been used here as a left back in every match. Has caught the eye with some lightning runs down the flank and some dangerous crosses.
17-Konstantin Zyryanov (Zenit St Petersburg). Midfielder. Born 5.10.77. Caps 13. Goals 3 Tournament appearances: 4. Goals: 1. Yellow cards: 0.
Another late bloomer, he became a regular in the national side soon after joining Zenit from struggling Torpedo Moscow last year. Was voted Russia's Player of the Year for 2007 and scored Zenit's second goal in their UEFA Cup final win over Rangers. Has been a regular starter at Euro 2008 and scored the winner in the 1-0 victory over Greece.
14-Roman Shirokov (Zenit St Petersburg). Midfielder. Born 6.7.81. Caps 5. Goals 0. Tournament appearances: 1. Goals: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
Has developed into an all-round player this season after joining champions Zenit from rivals FK Khimki. Started in central defence against Spain but was dropped for subsequent matches after being one of the main offenders in straying from position and leaving the back exposed in that match.
20-Igor Semshov (Dynamo Moscow). Midfielder. Born 6.4.78. Caps 29. Goals 0. Tournament appearances: 4. Goals: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
Diminutive but skilful, he can play in most positions in midfield. Played at the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004 and has been a mainstay here.
13-Oleg Ivanov (Krylya Sovietov Samara). Midfielder. Born 4.8.86. Caps 0. Goals 0 Tournament appearances: 0. Goals: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
A late replacement for injured striker Pavel Pogrebnyak. The 21-year-old uncapped midfielder plays for Russian club Krylya Sovietov Samara and featured in coach Guus Hiddink's provisional squad for the finals. Has not been used in Austria and Switzerland yet.
11-Sergei Semak (Rubin Kazan). Midfielder. Born 27.2.76. Caps 50. Goals 4. Tournament appearances: 4. Goals: 0. Yellow cards: 1.
Has been called up by coach Guus Hiddink for the first time in more than two years and is captain of the side at the championship. His acrobatic overhead kick set up Konstantin Zyryanov's goal against Greece. Ukraine-born, he made his Russia debut in a World Cup playoff against Italy in November 1997. Made the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004 squads but did not play.
10-Andrei Arshavin (Zenit St Petersburg). Forward. Born 29.5.81. Caps 34. Goals 13. Tournament appearances: 2. Goals: 2. Yellow cards: 1.
Was suspended for the first two matches but returned with a bang in the next two, scoring against Sweden and Netherlands and voted man of the match in both games for his dazzling moves. Small, talented playmaker who is widely considered the country's best player and is likely to move abroad after the championship.
21-Dmitry Sychev (Lokomotiv Moscow). Forward. Born 26.10.83. Caps 40. Goals 15. Tournament appearances: 2. Goals: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
Became Russia's youngest World Cup player against Tunisia in 2002, at 18 years and 222 days. Also the youngest Russian to score a World Cup goal when he netted against Belgium. Played at Euro 2004, but struggled for form last season. Has been part of the neat and free-flowing moves in the midfield here.
19-Roman Pavlyuchenko (Spartak Moscow, pictured). Forward. Born 15.12.81. Caps 19. Goals 9. Tournament appearances: 4. Goals: 3. Yellow cards: 0
One of the revelations of the tournament. Has scored three times in four matches and has gone close on many others. Called a "sleeping giant" by coach Guus Hiddink due to his disappointing club season but has woken up at Euro 2008.
6-Roman Adamov (FK Moscow). Forward. Born 21.6.82. Caps 3. Goals 0. Tournament appearances: 1. Goals: 0. Yellow cards: 0.
A powerfully-built striker who was a surprise call-up. Made his full debut in a friendly against Romania in March. Had about 20 minutes on the pitch against Spain but has otherwise been biding his time on the bench.
9-Ivan Saenko (Nuremberg). Forward. Born 17.10.83. Caps 9. Goals 0. Tournament appearances: 3. Goals: 0. Yellow cards: 1.
The stocky winger is the only one who plays outside Russia and has impressed coach Guus Hiddink with his work ethic. Has een mostly used as a substitute here but started against Netherlands.
