Maxi Lopez has Milan in sights

Sampdoria forward Maxi Lopez is desperately hoping to be fit in time to face one of his former clubs, Milan, at the weekend.

The 29-year-old picked up an injury just days after scoring the winner in his side’s derby with Genoa and is eager to return.

“I’m doing everything I can to be back from the injury,” Lopez said to Tuttosport.

“I will try to make it until the end, but without taking any risks. I want to make it for the Milan game.”

The Argentine was then asked about his experiences of his loan spell at San Siro.

“I was great because I had the chance to play with champions like El Shaarawy and Ibrahimovic,” he explained.

“It’s a shame about the injuries I got there but on the whole it was a positive experience.”
