Final Fantasy VI coming to smartphones
Final Fantasy VI to launch on mobile devices as a remake.
Square Enix has revealed plans to release Final Fantasy VI for Android and iOS devices this winter.
Speaking in an interview with Kotaku, Square Enix director and producer Takashi Tokita confirmed the game's release window and that it would be "like a remake of the original VI".
"The battle systems have been altered for the other [mobile remakes] for Final Fantasy and VI will be the same. For instance, grinding was an issue...now on the mobile devices, the battle systems have been adjusted so you don't have to fight as much and can enjoy the game for what it is," Tokita told Kotaku.
The remake will feature reworked graphics to suit smartphones.
Final Fantasy VI was originally released in North America in 1994 under the name Final Fantasy III. The game was later ported to the PlayStation and re-released in 1999. A second port, named Final Fantasy VI Advance, was released for the Game Boy Advance in 2006 to positive reception.
