• Though she's been linked romantically with big-name actors like Matt Damon and Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder's boyfriend, Scott Mackinlay Hahn, keeps a lower profile.
  • They've been dating since 2011, but manage to maintain a high level of privacy about their relationship.
  • Ryder will co-star in Stranger Things 3, which will be released on Netflix on July 4, 2019.

Since her proto-goth days in Beetlejuice and Heathers, Winona Ryder has been near and dear to our hearts, most recently playing the perennially worried mother Joyce Byers on Netflix's Stranger Things. And if there's one thing we know about Byers, it's that she's unlucky in love. She starts off the series as a single mom, then finds romance with the steady, stable Bob Newby — and, well, let's just say that doesn't work out. But while Joyce is still looking to find "the one," Ryder, 47, already found hers.

They might not have a celebrity couple moniker — heck, you might not have heard his name before — but the Daily Mail reports that Ryder has been dating her boyfriend, Scott Mackinlay Hahn, for the past eight years. And they are #couplegoals for people who like to keep things cool.

Who is Scott Mackinlay Hahn?

But while Scott Mackinlay's name isn't as well-known as some of Ryder's earlier love interests, he's very accomplished in his own right. He's a founder of Loomstate, a company devoted to environmentally sustainable fashion. (They're "the OG of organic cotton T-shirts," according to an article in New York magazine.) "We found out how destructive conventional cotton farming is, so we made a brand just focused on organic cotton," Hahn told Time. The company started in 2004, and even Chipotle use Loomstate's products as part of its uniform.

Don't expect wedding bells any time soon.

Though the couple has been dating for a long time, and things appear to be going well, Ryder is famously hesitant about the idea promoting Hahn from boyfriend to husband. "I’m a serial monogamist," Ryder told Net-a-Porter's The Edit. "But marriage? I don’t know. I’d rather never have been married than been divorced a few times. Not that there’s anything wrong with divorce, but I don’t think I could do it if that was a possibility. When your parents are madly in love for 45 years, your standards are really high. But I’ve been happily with someone for quite a while now.” (Obviously, that "someone" is Hahn!)

Then again, never say never: Ryder sounds like she might be open to the possibility of changing her tune, if unattributed gossip is to be believed. An unnamed "insider" told Radar Online that the actress is ready to be married. “Winona feels so lucky to be on a hit show and in a loving relationship with Scott,” the source said, adding that, if they were to take the plunge, the celebration would be small. “They don’t feel the need for a fancy wedding." Take that news with a grain of salt.

Then again, is Ryder already married? In press for Destination Wedding, their rom-com together, Keanu Reeves says he believes he married Ryder on the set of Bram Stoker's Dracula, when they got a real priest to perform a marriage ceremony for a scene. Reeves told The Talk that he still gets texts from her once in a while that say, "Hello, husband."

The future is still unclear.

Whether or not they get married, Ryder has said that she's been thinking about whether or not she wants to have children. "I was talking to my dad last year and saying, ‘What if I can’t have a kid?’ and he said, ‘There are other ways to have children in your life,’" she told The Telegraph. "That’s true — and I get these amazing doses with my brother’s kids. But I’ve got to stop listening to other people. It’s crazy the stuff women will tell you.” (So true!)

No matter what's in store, Ryder and Hahn keep their relationship to themselves.

Red carpets are one of the few places you’ll see them together.

Don't expect to see Ryder and Hahn splash their romance all over social media. For two people who are sort of in the public eye, they've managed the seemingly impossible feat of keeping things mostly private.

A true rarity in 2019, neither of them have an Instagram account. He has a Twitter feed, but hasn't posted on it since 2017. She doesn't tweet. "Apparently studios look to see how many followers you have, but even the term ‘followers’ is faintly creepy to me,” she told The Telegraph. And, even though he's walked the red-carpet with her at events, she still shies away from talking about him in interviews, or says something suitably vague like "I've been seeing someone." Their love story is the kind that's so solid, they don't feel the need to share it with anyone else.
