Micah Richards has just advised West Ham United to sign Scott McTominay from Manchester United.

West Ham were heavily linked with a move to sign Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay in the summer transfer window (Sky Sports).

However, the 26-year-old remained at Old Trafford in the end, with Man United holding out for around £45 million – £15 million more than West Ham were prepared to spend.

I believe that McTominay would have been an excellent addition for Hammers boss David Moyes, but the Scot signed James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez in the end, so you won’t hear any complaints from me.

“West Ham we said, it was West Ham. Yeah, I just think he’s a really intelligent, hard-working midfielder who can do a job whatever you tell him. It’s just the chaos of Manchester United or the player who they had in the past, so they are always comparing him to Keane or Scholes and it’s always going to be difficult. But there is a player in there, I think he’s fantastic.”

I totally agree with Micah Richards.

However, I will say this – I’m not sure we actually need the Manchester United midfielder at the London Stadium anymore, after Moyes’s summer transfer business.

West Ham are in pretty good shape in central midfield now, even after the departure of Declan Rice.

That said, I still wouldn’t turn my nose up at the chance of bringing McTominay to the London Stadium, if the opportunity does indeed present itself.
